People often say they want to achieve a goal to be successful or deal with a particular issue because they know it is holding them back and making them unhappy. But before they know it, five, ten or fifty years have gone by, and they wonder what they did in those years because they started something but never finished.
The question is, was whatever they were busy doing worth more than dealing with an issue that was holding them back, damaging their relationships or postponing them following their dreams in life?
It's all too easy to sit back and look at others and say, "I could have done that, or I always wanted a relationship like that". Well, why didn't you?
We can easily leave many of the things we start unfinished, and whether we realize it or not, this habit can be hurting us.
If you constantly feel anxious, it could be because of all the projects or underlying issues you've constantly left unfinished. Even if you don't currently feel any anxiety, this doesn't mean you won't, due to unfinished business.
Not only that, but when feelings of anxiety go unresolved, they can lead to more serious issues such as depression, sickness and relationship breakdowns.
Today I encourage you to stop setting tasks and issues you know you need to deal with aside and start completing and finishing things.
Take some time to dream, imagine, pray and seek God for His plan and purpose for your life. Invite Him to finish what He has started in you and then allow Him to direct and guide your steps.
Determine that you will have a new attitude toward moving forward, dealing with those things that have been limiting or holding you back and finishing what you've started.
"Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus." (Philippians 1:6 NIV)
"To everything, there is a season and a time to every purpose under the heaven". (Ecclesiastes 3:1)
"I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye." (Psalm 32:8)
Prayer: Lord, please help me to quiet my heart and mind so that I can hear the dreams you have placed in my heart. I don't want to live a life of procrastinating and postponing so that I never actually live the life you have for me. Please help me to seize the day today! In Jesus Name. Amen.
