15 Dec -Being in the right place, at the right time!

opportune-time

Today Isaac, our youngest child and I received a special surprise. We got to see a brand new baby foal only hours old, as we arrived at the stables for Isaac’s ride. We’d been watching the mare over the last few weeks get larger and larger as her due date grew closer, and today we were one of the first at the stables to see the very cute new arrival. We couldn’t really plan that we would be there at that opportune time, but it was a desire of Isaac’s that he would get to see this little foal straight after it had been born, and today it was granted.

God has a way of doing that in our lives. He hears our prayers, our conversations, and the desire of our hearts, and the bible says that “when we delight in Him, He gives us the desires of our hearts”. (Psalm 37:4) “He is able to do superabundantly more than all that we dare ask or think [infinitely beyond our greatest prayers, hopes, or dreams], according to His power that is at work within us”. (Ephesians 3:20 AMP) Really when we are listening, loving and following God, we should expect these superabundant, beyond our greatest prayers happenings more often!

I love moments like today, when I couldn’t have planned it better. I know that God heard Isaac’s heart and his desire, and just wanted to give a special surprise and gift to us today. Perhaps far too often we relegate these “gifts” to luck, or coincidence. But God actually says that He has good things for us to walk in, and that He will do far above and beyond what we can ever dream, ask or imagine. In fact I believe God has a lot of opportune moments for each one of us, where we are in the right place, at the right time, meeting the right person, or receiving that needed information.

Today, I was reminded of the miracle of new birth, and of being in the midst of an  opportune time moment. God is in the habit of orchestrating these happenings, (which I don’t believe are just coincidences), so He can then  pour out a blessing, or even use us to be the conduit for someone else’s blessing.

We may have been praying for these things; but at other times it is just God doing more than we can ask, think, dream or imagine. He has a plan for our life, but it isn’t necessarily going to follow the path we think. Man makes his plans, but God sets our path. Which means that quite often God is going to mess with our plans, so as to position us for something better.

We can make our plans, but the LORD determines our steps”. (Proverbs 16:19)

Be encouraged today that He has heard your prayers, and even the secret desires of your heart. Trust him to direct and guide you to the right moment, place or person, so as to answer you, even it that may mean messing with your plans! He knows what He is doing. Expect the unexpected, and make room in your life for an opportune time moment, that may well just change your situation, circumstances, and the whole outlook on your day.

Prayer: Lord thank you that you direct my steps, and it is always with a plan in mind.Thank you for your suddenlies, and the moments when you have me in exactly the right place, at the right time. Help me to be quick to respond to your promptings and to be expectant for these God orchestrated moments. In Jesus Name Amen.
