18 November - What Kind Of Life Do You Want?

It’s that time of the year when it’s an ideal opportunity to assess our goals, the condition of our hearts and our future plans and determine how we will move forward.

What dreams and goals, do you have? How did your strategy for the past year play out, and what baggage and weights are you carrying that you need to drop off to keep you moving forward?

The Bible gives some helpful advice on how to stay focused on our future. It says, “But one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus”. (Philippians 3:12-14).

It’s why we benefit from regularly asking ourselves, “what sort of life am I living, what kind of life do I want, and is there anything I need to let go of so that I can reach forward to those things which are ahead?”

Letting go and looking ahead is key to how you take hold of all that God has for your life and is vital to living the kind of life you want.

Hebrews 12:1 in the Bible says,” Let us strip off and throw aside every encumbrance (unnecessary weight) and that sin which so readily (deftly and cleverly) clings and entangles us, and let us run….Looking away from all that will distract us to Jesus, Who is the Leader and the Source of our faith”.

God has a plan and a purpose for you. He loves you unconditionally, just the way you are. His grace is amazing! He accepts you, seeks to bless you, and always wants to draw you close. But He also loves you far too much to leave you in the state you can get yourself in and will sometimes step in, redirect and allow things to get uncomfortable as a catalyst for change in your life.

As you step into this season, check in with Jesus and seek Him to help clarify your vision and purpose and how to best refresh your goals.

Determine to process and let go of any burdens and negativity and allow Jesus to heal any brokenness or tiredness. He has you and your future in His very capable hands, so trust him to lead you as you seek His ways and purposes for your life.

And remember to let your hopes, not your hurts, shape your future as you look ahead today.

"He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.

Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall;

but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.

They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not be faint." (Isaiah 40:29-31NIV)

I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, to give you a hope and a future” (Jeremiah 29:11)

“I (Jesus) have come to give you fullness and abundant life “(John 10:10)

Prayer: Lord, thank you for all that I have and all that is ahead of me. Would you please help me to allow you to have control to lead me in the way I should go. I trust you, Lord, to help me live my best life. In Jesus name Amen.
