Our daughter Shara Rose recently released her new song, Hold On, and today, she asked people to share their stories of holding on to hope and overcoming difficulties.
I’ve discovered that most people want to portray a particular image and narrative about their lives to the rest of the world, which often doesn’t include talking about tough times or what they’ve been going through.
Even when we have a win or breakthrough, we can shy away from sharing it with others because we fear what they may think, or we like to keep our lives private.
Unfortunately, this can result in those people who are struggling or who have suffered trauma or heartache believing that no one will understand what they are going through, as everyone around them appears like their lives are perfect.
But it’s powerful when people choose to share what they have travelled through and overcome. It gives hope and inspiration and reminds us of God’s power, goodness, and the results of holding onto hope and choosing not to give up.
The challenge is allowing ourselves to be vulnerable enough to share when it’s personal or has been a hidden problem or hurt. However, Jesus encourages us to tell our story. He told the man he’d delivered from a demon and radically transformed his life to “return home and declare how much God has done for you“. The man went away, proclaiming throughout the region how much Jesus had done and helped and encouraged many people in the process. (Luke 8:39)
Today be encouraged by the testimony of those who have overcome difficulties and seen God move mountains in their lives. God is no respecter of persons but faith. What he’s done for one, he’ll do for another, which includes you. (Acts 10:25-37)
Hold onto God’s promises, surround yourself with positive stories and those people who have testimonies of hope and breakthrough. God is faithful and will finish what he’s started in you and help you keep walking. Hold onto him and the hope that He gives that all things work together for our good, and he will perfect all that concerns you. (Romans 8:28; Psalm 138:8)
Likewise, if you have something to share with others, don’t be afraid to tell your story, as it might be the catalyst for a breakthrough in someone else’s life.
If you would like to get involved in Shara Rose’s #holdonchallenge. I invite you to go to @shararose_and take the opportunity to share your story and encourage someone else to continue to hold on and overcome today.
"Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing."
(1 Thessalonians 5:1)
“Give thanks to the Lord and proclaim his greatness. Let the whole world know what he has done.” (Psalm 105:1)
“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” (Hebrews 13:8)
Prayer: Lord, thank you for all you have done and are doing in my life. Please help me be bold enough to share with others when I have a breakthrough and to draw encouragement from others and your Word. In Jesus name Amen
