As I put our two youngest to bed tonight we were talking about being able to go in and out of heaven. It’s something I’ve always taught our kids, and that they have a secret, special place they can go to when they want to spend time with Jesus. The more I have come to understand and experience the things of the Spirit, and of heavenly places the more revelation this going in and out of our secret place with Jesus has meant.
We complicate the things of God sometimes, thinking that we have to do, say and be all these things to have access to God, heaven and His presence. When really it is very simple. In John 10:9 Jesus says, “Yes, I am the gate. Those who come in and through me will be saved. They will come and go freely and will find good pastures”. (NLT). Some translations of that verse say, “and will go in and out, and find pasture”.(NKJV)
Other places in the bible talk about us being seated in heavenly places with Jesus now. “But because of His great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ, even when we were dead in our trespasses. It is by grace you have been saved! And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with Him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus”. (Ephesians 2:4-6)
We have a body, but we also have a spirit, and our spirit when we ask Jesus into our lives is born anew. The separation between God and us is removed, and we can commune with the creator of the universe, the one who loves us, simply by stepping into that place in Him. We can come in and out of heavenly places, because Jesus has given us that access.
I have discovered that God has given us our imagination for a purpose, and that purpose is to be able to see those things that our natural senses can’t. When we focus in on Jesus and things above, and desire to be with Him, we actually get to be where He is, with Him, seeing and hearing beyond the natural realm.
“Therefore, since you have been raised with Christ, strive for the things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.” (Colossians 3:1-2)
I often see myself walking along a garden path, through a garden gate and into a massive field where Jesus is. From there I get to go to places in heaven…it’s a crazy, amazing, beautiful, and busy place.
I used to think that maybe it was just my imagination, but then I started seeing and hearing about the same places as other people did when they talked about going into heaven to spend time with Jesus. God started speaking truths, imparting information and bringing understanding of how to deal with situations. Heaven is for real, and we don’t have to wait until we die to experience it. It’s a place we can go; to see, hear, learn and experience more of God now.
Today I encourage you to renew your mindset about what is possible when you know Jesus. He says we can “come in and out, and come and go freely,” (John 10:9) because He is the access point to heaven, not death. So why aren’t you going already? It’s an open invitation, and believe me it will change everything! There is a call from heaven today…”come up, come up here”!
Prayer: Jesus, thank you that you are the door to heaven, and that I can come and go freely, and find you there. Forgive me for making death the way to heaven, and not you. In Jesus Name Amen.
