21 Jan – Reaching for something

What are you pursuing?

People lose their fire and enthusiasm for life simply because they are not pursuing anything.

A key to keeping passionate about life is having fresh goals before you.

We need to understand how God has created us. To be looking forward, reaching for something beyond what we have presently.

If you live with low motivation, few dreams, and unrealistic goals, you are likely to become stagnant, bored and even depressed.

Pursue a new goal; it will keep you fresh and excited about life. It doesn’t need to be lofty. Maybe a goal to finish school, increase your income, be a better parent or grand parent, exercise a little more, go for a trip. Read a chapter of the bible each day.

Have something in front of you. We are created to always be growing. Don’t allow yourself to become complacent. Life is a gift!

After you have accomplished one goal, immediately set another one. Keep moving; keep looking for new challenges.

The bible talks a lot about vision, dreams and running your race.

Where there is no vision the people perish” (Proverbs 29:18)

Write the vision and make it plain on tablets, so he may run who reads it” (Habakkuk 2:2)

Now to Him who is able to do superabundantly more than all that we dare ask or think [infinitely beyond our greatest prayers, hopes, or dreams], according to His power that is at work within us” (Ephesians 3:20),

God will do more than you ask or dream. What are you asking and dreaming for? What goal are you pursuing?

Whatever your assignment in life is right now, do it with passion. Write it down, and keep pressing on towards the goal.

You may have obstacles, but don’t give up on your goals and dreams. God has something important for you to do. Take the time to find out what He has placed in your heart to pursue.

Dwell on the good things in your life.

Know that He will make “all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.” (Romans 8:28)

Today put what you are reaching for in front of you. Write it down, and keep it before you. Thank God that you are able to do it with Him. Ask for His help and wisdom.

Encourage yourself. Remember what God has done in you already and that “you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you” (Philippians 4:13).

Prayer: Thank you for my life today, that my life is a gift. Help me to set a goal and keep at it. I stir myself up today. I look ahead and not behind, knowing that I can do all things in your strength. In Jesus name Amen.
