This weekend our family is away camping, and it has ended up been a great weekend even though we have had to be dodging very inclement weather, with torrential rain most of today interrupting our camping endeavours.
Not to be deterred we have made up scavenger hunt games, gone bowling, and came up with numerous other ways to entertain ourselves miles from home. In the process we’ve entertained Bunnings staff with our antics, even getting ourselves photographed for their social media and gone on a shopping spree at the local clothing store because we were all drenched from trying to dodge the rain and massive puddles.
We could have given up on this camping trip and determined it was just too wet and stormy and packed up and gone home, but we chose to stick out the weather and to make the best of the weekend, whilst praying for the weather to pass.
As a result, we have had a great day and our prayers have been answered as the rain has ceased and we have enjoyed an evening around the fire pit, cooking dinner over an open fire, eating smores, exploring the beach by torchlight and playing games under the gazebo lit up by fairy lights from our shopping trip earlier today.
Today could have been a right off because the weather was not suitable for camping and being miles from home. But I started the day with the prayer that God would bless our day and that all things would work together for our good.
I had been reading early this morning about looking for God’s blessing and favour and so I had the attitude and mindset to expect Him to be working on my behalf and looked to make the best of whatever came our way.
I’m glad I started the day that way, because it enabled us to pivot and navigate towards good things through the day regardless of the circumstances and challenges.
I encourage you to look for where God can and is working and to be open to adjusting and making the most of whatever you are facing. Everything doesn’t necessarily work out exactly how we imagined, but it’s often our attitude and mindset that results in you either having an amazing experience and making memories or throwing up your hands in defeat and giving up on your plans and dreams.
I encourage you today to look for and make the most of every situation you face. Be willing to adjust your plans if you need to and look for and ask for God to move in your circumstances, to enable you to achieve your dreams and live your best life. He promises he will work all things together for your good and that He is working to bring blessing and favour into your life. Trust him even when things don’t go to plan tat everything is going to be alright and you will still be smiling regardless of any storm.
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him who have been called according to his purpose.” (Romans 8:28)
“For the Lord God is a sun and shield, the Lord bestows favour and honour, no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless.” (Psalm 84:11)
Prayer: Lord, thank you that you work all things together for my good and that you help me to adjust and make the most of every situation I may face regardless of the storms that may come my way. Thank you that today is going to be a great day. In Jesus name Amen.
