27 November - How to Choose Well

Most of us are totally free to choose every move we make, every word we speak, every incline of our hearts and every reflection of our thoughts; we get to choose it all.

Amongst all that, choosing God’s quiet, still voice whispers, “You can do things your way – I’ve given you free will to do that, but I do know a better way. A way where the dreams and desires in your heart can be fulfilled in a way that you couldn’t even imagine.

My way is where if you walk in forgiveness, you will gain the freedom and peace you often crave. When you walk away from temptation, you will know my grace to sustain and strengthen you as you do.

My way will often ask you to remain silent even when being slammed by those around you, but don’t worry because I am God, and I will always have the last word.

When you choose my way, you will learn that I will protect, guide, provide and care for you if you would only trust and walk in my ways.”

Then He leaves us with the decision we make daily – Our way or His.

But as I often discovered when faced with this choice – how does my way work out for me anyway?

Because when I try to do things my way, I often end up stressed, frustrated, disappointed and angry at the world and everyone in it.

But when I choose His way, I can forgive when people are hurtful because that is the better way to deal with my hurts and remain hopeful even when tempted to give in to anger or offence.

Choosing Jesus’ way is choosing to look ahead, forget the former things, let go of the past, and choose His will and way over ours.

Today, I encourage you to choose life and Jesus’ way. It doesn’t mean it’ll always be smooth sailing, but you will stay afloat, reach your destination, and have a life that far surpasses anything you could achieve alone. (Ephesians 3:20 AMP)

“Who is the man who fear the Lord? He will instruct him in the way he should choose.” (Psalm 25:12)

“I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse. So choose life in order then you may live, you and your descendants.” (Deuteronomy 30:19)

Prayer: Lord, please help me to allow you into all the places in my heart. I want you to rule and reign in my life, so I choose your will and your way today. In Jesus name
