27 Oct -Supernatural Wisdom #5

supernatural-wisdom

My husband recently brought me a new t-shirt which has on the back “Never underestimate a woman with a plan and a prayer.”

However it would seem most of the time many people do underestimate the power, wisdom and strength available to us when we come to God and pray!

King Solomon in the bible was not born a wise man. Faced with leading a nation after the death of his Father David, he turned to God for help. He prayed; but the interesting point to note is that He didn’t just pray for His needs to be met, or for everything to go well with His leadership, or for riches, power and honour. Instead Solomon prayed and asked for wisdom. God heard his prayer and said, “Because you have asked this, and have not asked for yourself long life or riches or the life of your enemies, but have asked for yourself understanding to discern what is right, behold now I do according to your word” (1 Kings 3:11)

There is a natural inborn wisdom learnt from experiences, education and wise counsel. However there is also a wisdom that is neither natural nor inborn. It is supernatural. It is a gift of God, and when we make God part of our lives we have this supernatural wisdom available to us. If we would “get supernatural wisdom,” we must seek, and ask in prayer for it. For the wisdom from heaven is “first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.” (James 3:17)

When we don’t know what to do; when we realise and acknowledge we need wisdom beyond ourselves, or even others expertise or advice, we can, like King Solomon ask for God to give us wisdom. That prayer request takes humility, and recognition that we actually don’t know everything, but need God. We live in a world where everyday we are faced with real challenges both in our own lives, and in the world in which we live..

Today take the time to pray just as Solomon did, that God would give you a supernatural wisdom. That you would have “a spirit of wisdom and of revelation” in the knowledge of God. We could all benefit from receiving this “supernatural wisdom” so as to answer the challenges and questions we face. If we ask, God says He will give it. Ask today!

If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” (James 1:5)

For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way (Colossians 1:9-10)

I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.” (Ephesians 1:17)

Prayer: Lord I need supernatural wisdom from heaven. I need the knowledge and understanding that you give, to help me in not just my own life, but also for the world I live in. In Jesus Name Amen.
