It's often the little things in life that can hijack our happiness, peace, and ability to focus on our purpose and goals. Such was the case this morning when I allowed the clothes dryer being broken to cause me to get grumpy because it's been raining for days, and with seven people in the house, I'm struggling to get the washing dry. It was a little thing, but that little annoyance negatively affected my morning and distracted me from what was important.
The bible talks about little foxes that burrowed under the vines and damaged the plant so that the quality of the crop was affected. It says, "Catch for us the foxes, the little foxes that ruin the vineyards, our vineyards that are in bloom." (Song of Solomon 2:15). Those little foxes (the annoying little things in our lives), if not evicted, can hinder and even stop us flourishing and producing what we could in life.
Little foxes can look like many things in our lives; it's those niggly frustrations, disappointments, worries, breakdown of appliances, suffering a lack, miscommunications, and the troubles of life that can throw us off our course or cause a "bump in the road" in our day.
But as I reminded myself this morning, God cares and is the one who holds our life together. He knows everything we need and the dreams in our hearts and promises He will perfect all that concerns us, make all things work together for our good and wants us to ask and expect to receive from Him.
Today don't allow those little foxes in your life to throw you off course or steal your joy; instead, take the time to stop and discern what is bothering you and pray and ask God to help and provide for you.
Then look to put some healthy strategies in place to protect you from any more foxes causing problems, and go and enjoy your day.
"Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete”. (John 16:24)
"This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it." (Psalm 118:4 ESV)
"He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds." (Psalm 34:18)
Prayer: Lord, please help me see where I have little foxes in my life that are causing pain or discomfort. I ask that you help me ask for what I need and deal with anything that can limit, cause pain, or stop me from moving forward. In Jesus name Amen.
