Ever feel like you can see where you want to be but it just feels impossibly far away? That career you’re chasing. The degree you’re studying for. The relationship you’re waiting on. The house you dream of buying. Even just the person you want to become.
It’s like standing at the edge of the Red Sea. On one side - your dream, your freedom, your future. On the other - waves too big to cross and an enemy on your heels.
Moses and the Israelites stood in that exact place, with the sea in front of them and the Egyptian army closing in behind.
“As Pharaoh approached, the Israelites looked up, and there were the Egyptians, marching after them. They were terrified and cried out to the LORD.” - Exodus 14:10 (NIV)
But then God gave Moses a strategy:
“Then the LORD said to Moses, ‘Why are you crying out to me? Tell the Israelites to move on. Raise your staff and stretch out your hand over the sea to divide the water so that the Israelites can go through the sea on dry ground.’” - Exodus 14:15–16 (NIV)
Moses obeyed. He lifted his staff, and what seemed impossible suddenly opened up before them. The sea split, the ground turned solid, and three million people walked straight into freedom and their future.
That’s who God still is. He makes ways where there are none. He takes what feels impossible and opens it wide. The key? Like Moses, Mary, Esther, and David and so many other hero's of faith - you take the step at His word. You trust that if He put the dream in your heart, He has a plan to get you there.
So when the dream feels too far, don’t let discouragement drown you. Lift up your eyes and take a firm grip on what you’ve got in your "hand". Take the step you can. And trust that God is clearing the way beneath your feet.
Action Steps
Name your Red Sea – Write down what feels impossible right now (a dream, goal, or obstacle).
Find your staff – What has God already placed in your hand? A skill, resource, opportunity, or even just faith to believe?
Take the next step – Do one small thing today in obedience to what God’s put on your heart.
Keep showing up and believing – Like the Israelites walking step by step across dry ground, keep moving forward, one faith-step at a time.
Think and Say
“I don’t have to know the whole way - just the next step. At Your word, Lord, I’ll move forward, and You’ll make a way.”
Bible Verses
“The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still.” - Exodus 14:14 (NIV)
“I am the LORD your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.” - Isaiah 41:13 (NIV)
“What is impossible with man is possible with God.” - Luke 18:27 (ESV)
Prayer
Lord, when I feel like my dreams are too far and the way is blocked, please remind me of who You are. Give me the courage to look up to you, use what You’ve placed in my hand and to take the next step at Your word. Thank You that You’re the God who makes a way where there is no way. I trust You with my future. In Jesus' name Amen.
You may not see the whole path yet, but God’s already clearing it. One step at a time, you’ll get to the other side.
