Sometimes we can feel like life is throwing curve balls. You find yourself struggling, facing sickness, financial difficulties or relationship issues and wondering what the future holds.
I’ve learnt however that even if life throws you curve balls, God has a bat and he will teach you how to swing!
God will not only get you through but also teach you how to grow, develop and thrive. He wants us to pick up our bat and
1. Choose to face the curve ball head on as you set your faith to overcoming the issue at hand.
Pick up your bat and start aiming at those curve balls until you connect and start to see them move out of your life. Jesus said we would have trials, but that he has overcome them. By the blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony – remembering what he has done on the cross and for us you will see the victory.
2. Determine to use all the resources you have on hand to overcome your situation. Don’t be passive about whatever you are facing and let it run over you like a Mac truck. If you have a negative medical report, determine that you will keep swinging at that thing. Seek answers and lean in to receive all that Jesus has promised.
If your finances are under pressure, seek God for wisdom on how to get out of debt, upskill, get a better job or how to manage your finances better.
If you are struggling with your relationships; your partner, children, family or work colleagues choose to respond proactively to conflict or difficulties rather than reacting all the time. Keep believing for God's best. (Ephesians 3:20)
When life throws you curve balls do all you can do and then look to God and expect Him to do what he does to bring breakthrough, provision, wisdom, peace, and healing.
One thing I've discovered is that when we do what we can, God will add his super to our natural and cause something supernatural and amazing to happen.
When our daughter was little, we would have to take her regularly to the hospital for treatment. They would ask me if I would like to admit her so they could treat her for her chronic eczema which would regularly get infected. I didn’t want to have to leave her alone so I would say, “No I will take care of her at home, tell me what I have to do”.
Four times a day I would apply wet dressings on her wounds in a routine which lasted several hours each dressing. Whilst I did that, I would tell her to find a spot on her arm where she had no sores and we would pray and speak Jesus’ promises of healing. I would speak over her that she had beautiful clear skin and that people would one day comment on how lovely it was.
Month after month, year after year we would do what we could do to help treat her, whilst also believing God to do what he promises in bring healing and restoration, until finally we started to see the breakthrough, the healing and the promises and what we had spoken over our daughter come to pass.
She can't now years later really recall those times as I prayed she wouldn’t remember how awful it had been for her. All that is left of life throwing those particular curve balls at us is a few tiny scars on her arm, which I point out to her when she may be having a bad day, as a testimony of God’s faithfulness to her.
I encourage you today not to become weary in doing good, for you will reap a harvest and see the breakthrough if you do not give up. It is by faith and patience we inherit the promises of God, and he is faithful to keep his word and watches over it to perform it.
Some things when you pray and believe for, you'll receive answers instantly – I love when that happens and I’ve seen some amazing, crazy, wonderful instant things.
But other times you may find you need to keep swinging. In those seasons choose to look up; remain diligent to do what you know to do, knowing God will come through for you and do what He does.
It also helps to:
Keep God’s promises in front of you, speak them out.
Listen to encouraging preaching and surround yourself with those who help you in your faith and trust in God.
Reach out and ask for them to hold you up in prayer and don’t be afraid to share what you are going through with others who you can trust to stand with you.
Jesus is with and will give you the grace and support you need.
Prayer: Lord, thank you that regardless of what may happen in life, you will never leave me to handle it alone. I trust you today to equip and empower me to not only get through the valley's but to grow and thrive as I am walking through them. In Jesus name Amen
