One of the amazing things I continue to learn as I spend time with Jesus and as I “hang out” in heavenly places with Him, is that He always wants to show me “more”. That more is possible, that more is available, and that God wants to give it to us.
He wants to give us more understanding and knowledge, to help us fathom the mysteries of the universe. He wants to give us more joy, and more bliss-filled lives, in which we overcome every mountain before us, and are able to walk in His power and presence more deeply.
The world often see’s “more” as attaining more money, possessions, education, power over others, more food, more alcohol, more sex, more success, more things to feed mankind’s natural, more base tendencies. This “more” may satisfy momentarily, but it eventually always leaves us wanting, empty and dissatisfied.
When I choose to forgo what the world has on offer, for the far richer treasures of heaven, and communion with God, I am always astounded at the things He speaks and reveals to me. He shows me things to come, of His plans and dreams for not only me, but also for the world. He loves us so much and has such plans and promise for mankind. (John 16:13)
He says to us, “Ask me and I will tell you remarkable secrets you do not know about things to come”. (Jeremiah 33:3)
What is even more amazing to me is that He desires to include each one of us in His grand story, and that the gifts, talents, dreams and desires He has placed in each of our hearts, are all part of how He wants to bless the world.
Far too often the lives we lead become devoid of the “more”. Life often becomes a matter of survival, rather than being filled with hope, joy, love and meaning. But Jesus has some good news today. He is “The More”, He desires to give us more than we could ask, dream, think, or imagine. When we spend time with Him; when we step thorough into His presence and sit in the secret place with Him, He reveals “the more” for our life, for our family, for our community, for our world.
“Now to Him who is able to do superabundantly more than all that we dare ask or think (infinitely beyond our greatest prayers, hopes, or dreams), according to His power that is at work within us”. (Ephesians 3:20 AMP)
“Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain Christ.” (Philippians 3:8)
Today don’t settle for just surviving. Don’t be afraid any longer of being disappointed, let down, or hurt. Instead look to Jesus and let Him show you all the wonders of the universe through His eyes. Let Him show you around heaven – it’s awesome! Let Him reveal the “more” He has for your life. It’s so much better than you can even imagine, and will enable you to let go of the past, of any disappointments and fear, and enable you to take hold of the wonderful future you have in Him.
Prayer: Lord, I want to thank you today for the “more” you have for my life. Help me to let go of the things of this world that so easily clutter up my heart and head space, so that I can make room in my life for the real treasure, and “The more” you have to give me. In Jesus Name. Amen.
