5 March – The Rewarder

he loves us

Sometimes in our human efforts, wilfulness or lack of trust and confidence in God’s love for us we can try to pull things into our lives out of season, which we are not quite ready for, or are out of alignment with God’s perfect plan for our lives. These things then run the risk of stealing our affections and becoming a distraction rather than a blessing and reward from God.

God doesn’t want to withhold any good thing from us and is always looking for ways to bless and demonstrate His love for us. He is a rewarder who longs to lavish his goodness upon us and is not miserly in any way. However as a good Father He also seeks to reward and teach us through our choices and attitudes so as to strengthen our relationship and trust in Him, grow our patience, and teach us the way to live and follow the guidelines in His Word so that we will have a full, abundant, purpose-filled life.

Our heavenly Father wants us to seek first His kingdom and way of doing things, for when we do He promises He will add to us all the other things of life. “He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him”, and always gives us options – to choose either faith or unbelief, and to put Him or ourselves first. (Matt 6:33; Hebrews 11:6)

He knows what is best, the right order of things, and what we are ready for. Plus when we make choices where we have diligently sought after God and His ways the devil has no legal right to hold up or steal from us because we’ve chosen to walk in obedience to God’s Word and His ways.

Today I encourage you to spend some thinking about God as a rewarder. As you make choices throughout the day remember that He is a good, good Father who desires to bless and lavish His love upon you today, and trust Him to reward you perfectly and in accordance with the amazing plan He has for your life, “which is exceedingly above all you can think, dream, ask or possibly imagine.” (Ephesians 3:20)

Have a listen to this song called “Good Good Father” by Housefires to encourage you today. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=djrY_eFDOwE

“See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!” (1John 3:1)

“He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all–how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?” (Romans 8:32)

Prayer: Lord thankyou that you are a good, good Father who desires to reward me. Help me to walk in step with your plan and purposes for my life today and to trust that you are leading and unfolding the best life for me. I trust in your goodness and love today. In Jesus name Amen.
