6 Aug – Don’t underestimate Me!

gods masterpiece

Underestimate: to estimate (something, or someone) to be smaller or less important than it really is. To set too low, to underrate, miscalculate, misjudge, and misread.

How often do we underestimate things in life? Whether that is a situation we may be facing, other people, ourselves or even God? We can at times all underestimate, or have other people underestimate us. But it’s not a nice feeling, and it stings to feel like we have to prove ourselves because someone misjudged and underrated our character, ability and intellect.

But there is One who does not underestimate us in any way, shape or form. He knows completely what we are capable of, and not only does He cheer us on, He also offers us strength, wisdom and backup to ensure we succeed.

That someone is God, and He doesn’t underestimate us because He is the one who formed us and planned extraordinary, far out, mind-blowing exploits for us to walk in. Where we, or others may think we are not capable, God says we are! Where we may doubt our ability, God says we can. Where others may put us down, misread, and think we are of little consequence, God and all of heaven says they are wrong! (Hebrews 12:1)

God knows the power that is working inside of us. He knows the stuff we are made of, and He knows that when we grasp hold of who we are, and that God – creator of the universe is with us, then nothing is too hard, impossible or beyond reach.

The question however we must daily ask ourselves is, “Whom are we going to believe?” Will we believe the underestimating negative voices in our head; the naysayers; our past failings; the people who try to limit and hinder our potential, or will we believe God?

Today, quit underestimating yourself and what God is able to do in and through you. Stop listening to the negatives, the naysayers, and those who seek to limit your potential, and instead lift your expectation of what you are able to do and be when God is on your side.

For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.” (Ephesians 2:10)

“Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us.” (Ephesians 3:20)

“I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;. Marvellous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well.” (Psalm 139:14)

Prayer: Lord please help me to see myself as you see me, and that I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Help me to remember that I don’t need to underestimate myself any longer, because I have unlimited potential, ability, and an amazing future. Plus with you, I have all of heaven as my backup and all the help I need everyday. In Jesus name Amen.
