7 August – What do you expect?

Expectation:  To expect is to look forward to something regarding it as very likely to happen. It means anticipating the occurrence or the coming of something. It has to do with your attitude.

An atmosphere of expectation is conducive to supernatural and divine intervention. If we are not expecting the supernatural to happen, it probably won’t.

Expectation is the breeding ground for miracles. If we want something to happen in our life we must expect for that thing to actually happen. Sadly many people go through life failing to become as little children. Little children expect miracles, they expect good things, they expect! But many people no longer have a sense of expectation, and there is no desire to see God do anything in their midst. They go through life staying exactly the same week in and week out because there is no expectation for anything good to happen. There is no expectation on a daily basis for God to do the supernatural, or the miraculous, or to use them.

On one level I get that. If you don’t expect anything; “Hey you won’t be disappointed if nothing happens.” Having no, or very low expectations means we don’t get hurt or let down.

The only problem is that isn’t how God has made us. He made us to dream, to imagine, to hope and to see and speak those things that are not yet manifest, as though they were. If God didn’t want us to expect for things, then He wouldn’t have put that in His word, and He wouldn’t have made us in His image.

Yes we can have disappointments and knockbacks. But God, I believe wants us to be faithful to continue to expect great things, to expect Him to answer prayer, to expect Him to work miracles, and that we will keep expecting until we see the breakthrough. He wants us to continue to pray for people regardless, not compromising what we really believe in order to become acceptable to those around us.

Someone said, “I’ve never seen a deaf ear opened.” How many deaf ears have you prayed for?

“I’ve never seen a dead person raised from the dead”. “How many dead have you prayed for?”

If the answer is none then that makes sense doesn’t it?

If we want the miraculous, we have to make a decision not to compromise, and to contend for the supernatural. To be bold” (R. Howard-Browne)

If we want to be used by God in the area of healings and miracles we won’t see them unless we step out and start praying for people. Lay your hands on people’s heads and say. “In the Name of Jesus”and speak to their need. That’s not so difficult, but a lot of us don’t want to do that because we’re too worried about what other people will think. “What if I pray and nothing happens, and they’re not healed?” What if you pray for them and they are healed?

We don’t see things happening  because we are no longer expecting anything, and sadly perhaps have compromised our life and walk with Jesus. That compromise leads to doubt and unbelief, and a lack of expectation and confidence to see the supernatural.

Today what do you expect?

Because God is moving, and He wants to use each one of us. I encourage you to start expecting the supernatural everyday. Contend for it. Ask for miracles, step out and pray for people, read about Jesus in the bible and how He ministered in the supernatural. Read about those who are seeing miracles happening everyday now, and see yourself doing the same.

If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.” (John 15:7-8)

Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. “ (John 14:12)

Prayer: Lord, help me to expect more. Where I have been disappointed please heal me of this hurt so that I have room in my heart to start to believe and expect to see the supernatural everyday. Forgive me where I have compromised in areas of my life. Help me to be bold, because I want you to use me. In Jesus Name. Amen.
