7 Nov – Prosper your soul!

prosper your soul

When we are feeling anxious, stressed or just blah one of the best things we can do is to proper our soul.

We are made up of three parts. We have a spirit; a soul, and we live in a body, so it’s important when we think of prospering our soul to understand exactly WHAT the soul is, and to understand how God has made us. Plus if we get into the habit of keeping our souls prospered then our mental, emotional, spiritual and physical health will benefit.

The Vine’s Dictionary defines the soul as “the seat of Intellect”: the seat of the sentient element in man, that by which he perceives reflects, feels, and desires. Basically, the soul is the place that houses our will, our emotions, and our intellect (the thinking, reasoning part of us: The Mind).

The bible also talks about the importance of prospering our souls, and according to 3 John 1:2, the level or degree to which we prosper and are in health is directly related to the level or degree that our soul – the thinking, reasoning part of us is prospering?

Beloved, I wish above all things that you prosper and be in health, even as your soul prospers” [3John 1: 2]

Therefore to begin to prosper one’s soul is to “be careful how we think; for our life is shaped by our thoughts”. We usually act and subsequently feel emotions upon our thoughts. (Proverbs 4:23)

Which is why God wants us to do and be around those things that lift us up, that fill our thoughts with good, and make us feel alive, at peace and full of joy. Our spirits are transformed and born anew when we invite Jesus into our lives, but our minds – our thoughts and reasoning, and subsequently our emotions must be renewed by what God says. If we don’t prosper our souls then even though our spirits are alive and soaring, our souls will always be pulling us down. But as we prosper our soul; our mind, will and emotions are renewed and transformed and we begin rise up and to prosper in every area of our life, which is what true prosperity is – in all things everything being well with us.

Today, choose to focus on and think upon good things; on good and not evil. Choose life and hope and the truth of what God says to benefit your soul. Build into your day those things that lift you up and bring you joy – that prosper your very soul!

Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” (Romans 12:2)

And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honourable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.” (Philippians 4:8)

“The soul of a lazy man desires, and has nothing; but the soul of the diligent shall be made rich.” (Proverbs 13:6)

Prayer: Lord I’m lining up my thoughts with your thoughts today, and choosing to think on those things that are good and true so that my soul – my mind, will and emotions will prosper and be in good health. In Jesus name Amen.
