8 April – Shout it from the rooftops!

shout-it-from-the-rooftops

There are some things that need to be shouted from the rooftops. Those things aren’t necessarily what you see splashed across the front page of the newspaper or on every news feed, and face book post. You probably won’t actually find a lot of rooftop shouting news there. Don’t get me wrong; it’s wise to be informed and to know what is going on around us so that we are able to pray and govern over these things. But I believe that there are things God does or says to us that quite simply need to be shouted out for all to hear.

Jesus said, “What I tell you now in the darkness (secret), shout abroad when daybreak comes. What I whisper in your ear, shout from the housetops for all to hear.” (Mark 10:27)

Unfortunately many times we allow life to get in the way of “rooftop shouting business.” We allow fear, busyness and the concern that comes from listening to others, and/or of offending those with a different point of view or experience to cause us to keep silent. Which is unfortunate because the world and all the people in our sphere of influence need to know that there is good news, that there is hope, that God is on His throne, and that He is faithful to His promises. The world needs to see demonstrations of His power at work in every person who says they believe in Him, and we need to be those people!

Peter in the bible is recorded as doing this when He “fairly exploded with his good news: “It’s God’s own truth, nothing could be plainer: God plays no favourites! It makes no difference who you are or where you’re from—if you want God and are ready to do as he says, the door is open.” (Acts 10:34-36 The Message Bible)

Today I am going to “shout it from the rooftops” because God is so good. For He is faithful to His Word and what man could not do He did for me. Today I completed one of my goals for the year of running 15km. That in itself may be an achievement, but if you know me and my past you will understand why I am shouting what God has done from the rooftops.

For eleven years I could not run, walk without pain, climb a set of stairs without difficulty, and manage for even a few hours without pain medication for my knees. I had treatment after treatment, and several operations to no avail until the great physician; God Himself broke into my life. Not only did He heal my knees, he healed me from the inside out, and set my life on a path where I no longer shrank back in the back ground, but stepped out onto the rooftops.

Today I not only want to shout, I have to shout because Jesus deserves honour for what He has done in me. He is no respecter of persons; what He has done for me, and many others I know He will do for all who come to Him in trust and faith. I refused to let go of His promises; I refused to be told by man that it’s just they way it is; and I chose to believe that what God had shown me was possible, because faith in Him connects us to His ability and power. But I also know that He’s hardly started on what He wants to do in and through me yet.

Today, I encourage you lift your expectation of what God can do. There are things He wants to set you free from, and truth’s He longs to tell you in secret, that then need to be shouted from the rooftops. Don’t come under the circumstances you may be facing, but put your trust and faith in Jesus and what He says to be true, and overcome those circumstances instead.

We get to choose; the hole that the devil has planned for our lives, or the mountains and rooftops that God has for us to stand and shout from instead.

Look up, and listen today, and let Jesus reveal to you what He can and will do for you, if you will only trust and believe in Him.

“Jesus replied, “What is impossible with man is possible with God.” (Luke 18:27)

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” (Philippians 4:13)

Prayer: Lord thank you for those things that you share and do for me. Please help me to believe in you to meet every need, and to fulfil every dream and desire of my heart, so that I  continually have something new to shout from the rooftops. In Jesus Name Amen.
