Daily affirmations or self-talk based on what God says about us are helpful tools for being able to walk in freedom and out of the many ruts we can find ourselves in.
The things we think about and speak have transforming power as we affirm what God says, tell ourselves a different story, and renew our minds to align with all that God says is possible.
The Bible says, “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” (Romans 12:2)
Imagine
A helpful key is to take time each day to close your eyes and imagine yourself as God says you are and what you want to be. "Seeing” yourself attaining your goals and becoming what God says about you makes it easier to overcome any hurdles that may be blocking you from moving forward.
For example, if you’re a smoker, visualize yourself as a non-smoker daily. If you desire to be fit and healthy, an overcomer, peaceful, loving etc., then begin to visualize and talk about yourself that way, and you will begin to see this image of yourself slowly replacing the current one.
Imagining and visualising is one way we can tell a different story about who we are and start to believe and act upon who God says we are.
Find a quiet place without distractions and think about what you desire to happen today or, if in the evening, go over what has happened throughout the day. Think about what you did right instead of what you did wrong and any positives of your day, and affirm those things in your life instead of focusing on the negatives.
What you focus on, you become so think on and speak out God’s promises and what He says in his word about you as you visualize what you want the future to look like.
God knows how important daily, faith-filled affirmations are and encourages us to think only good things about ourselves and our future. As we do, we strengthen our self-worth by boosting both our positive opinion of ourselves and our confidence in our ability to achieve our goals. They can also help counter the feelings of panic, stress, and self-doubt that often accompany anxiety.
Here are some positive affirmations God says about your life to help as you move forward into all that you are created to be:
"I am a chosen child of God" (John 1:12; 1 Thess 1:4)
“I am a new creature in Christ: old things have passed away, behold, all things are new”(2 Corinthians 5:17)
“No weapon that is formed against me shall prosper” (Isaiah 54:17)
I prosper in everything I put my hand to. I have prosperity and I'm blessed in all areas of my life–spiritually, financially, mentally, and socially. (Jeremiah 29:11)
I take every thought captive unto the obedience of Jesus Christ, casting down every imagination and every high and lofty thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God. (2 Corinthians 10:5)
As a man thinks in his heart, so is he; therefore, all of my thoughts are positive. (Proverbs 23:7)
I cast all my cares on the Lord, for He cares for me. (1 Peter 5:7)
I don’t have a spirit of fear but of power and love and a sound mind. (2 Timothy 1:7)
I am creative and an innovative thinker because the Holy Spirit lives in me. (John 14:26; 1 Corinthians 6:19)
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me (Philippians 4:13)
Jesus took up all my infirmities and carried all my diseases. I am healed, healthy and whole (Isaiah 53:4; Matthew 8:17; 1 Peter 2:24)
Prayer: Lord, thank you for your help and wisdom and that with you, I can get out of any ruts, negative mindsets and behaviours I may have and be transformed into the person you have created me to be. Help me think and speak only the things you say about me today. In Jesus name Amen.
