Freedom – "the state of not being imprisoned or enslaved".
But how many people are physically, spiritually, emotionally, and mentally not living in freedom? Instead, they are a slave to their circumstances, emotions, and fears.
The good news is that when we ask Jesus to be a part of our lives, He made it available for us to live set us free from the things that have caused us to become wound up and held in bondage so that we don't have to struggle anymore. This freedom is available. However, we do need to choose, and He has given us that freedom of choice (Joshua 24:14-15 ESV)
To choose to take what Jesus has done for us, what He says about us, and the future He has laid out for us and put it to work and into practice.
We get to choose whether to trust and have faith and then use our faith to change how we live our lives.
Every day I get to choose whether I will fill my mind and heart with negativity and fear or build my faith by reading and hearing what God says in His Word and making time to spend in His presence.
We get to choose what we allow to take root in our hearts and whether we will deal with any issues or allow our circumstances to dictate to us. Or whether we will dictate to our circumstances.
To walk in Freedom and joy, you'll have to choose.
Here are some first steps to choosing freedom every day:
1. Spend time in God's presence, asking Him what He has planned for your day. (1 Chronicles 16:11)
2. Get Fat; When I'm struggling with an area or need a breakthrough, I seek to get "fat" on God's promises in the area where I need Freedom. When we choose to feed on God's word, it will overflow into our circumstances when we need it and cause us to breakthrough.
If it's your health, go to the Word about what God says about your health and Freedom from sickness; if it's finances, seek what God says about money and the blessing.
If it's relationships, your children, your future, or anything, God wants you to know His will and to get hold of His promises, renew your mind with what He says and then start declaring it. When we do this, we allow God's power to flow through us.
Jesus said even faith as small as a mustard seed has the power within it to move mountains. (Matthew 17:20)
It's the Word that does the work, not the one holding on to it. God's Word and He are one (John 1:1). Faith in what He has promised will work for anyone who believes and puts it to work.
Jesus wants you to walk out your Freedom in every area of your life. He paid the price to purchase it for you, so aim your faith in the area where you need to experience breakthrough and put God's promises to work in your circumstances and life today.
"Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you." (Matthew 17:20)
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." (John 1:1)
"The LORD has established His throne in the heavens, And His sovereignty rules over all. Bless the Lord, you, His angels, Mighty in strength, who perform His Word. Obeying the voice of His Word. Bless the Lord, His hosts, You who serve Him doing His will." (Psalm 103:10-21)
Prayer: Lord Jesus, I thank you for doing everything for me. I choose to fill my heart and mind with what you say rather than listen to my circumstances. You are bigger than my circumstances, and I choose to put the promises in your Word to work for me today. In Jesus Name, Amen.
