8 Sept - Don't Worry About A Thing

I must admit I've been worried today. It results from too many little things whirring around in my head and me not stopping to check in to sort them out. As a result, I started to get worried about everything, resulting in me not feeling great today.

My worried state got me thinking about how much time we spend worrying in our day. We can worry about our finances, families, children (we have six), the government, the world and anything else we can think of.

However, worrying about everything, especially tomorrow, can become a dangerous waste of mental, emotional and spiritual energy because we aren't created to worry. It's bad for our relationships, sense of humour, and health, causes toxicity in our brains and saps our faith to believe in God and what He says about our life.

Jesus advised us not to worry and especially not to worry about tomorrow, for today has enough things to keep us busy. Instead of worrying, He says to get in the habit and attitude of trusting Him and believing He is going to take care of us and our lives. (Matthew 6:25 NKJV)

Trusting that He is good, that He has our future in His very capable hands, that He loves our families and the people in our life even more than we do, and that He will work out every circumstance for good for those who love and follow Him. (Romans 8:28 NKJV)

The more often we begin our day entrusting everything into God's hands, getting heaven's perspective regarding our relationships, finances and the concerns of the day, the better we will be

Make a decision to start your day by giving all your concerns to God as you read and listen to His Word to get His perspective. Watch out for the things that trigger your worries and take time to deal with the root of why you are feeling that way if you keep on feeling worried repeatedly. Then focus on the good things of the day before you, remembering to quickly hand over any worries or concerns to God as they arise throughout the day.

He knows everything happening around us and the end from the beginning, so when we choose to cast all our cares upon him, deal with any worry triggers and trust Him, we can start enjoying life more rather than worrying about what may happen next.

Jesus said it this way, "That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink or enough clothes to wear. Isn't life more than food and your body more than clothing? Look at the birds. They don't plant, harvest, or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren't you far more valuable to him than they are? Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?

"And why worry about your clothing? Look at the lilies of the field and how they grow. They don't work or make their clothing, yet Solomon, in all his glory, was not dressed as beautifully as they are. And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you. Why do you have so little faith?

"So don't worry about these things, saying, 'What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?' These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.

"So don't worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today's trouble is enough for today." (Matthew 6:25-34)

Have a great day today - and don't worry about a thing, God's got you.

Prayer: Lord, please help me cultivate and have an attitude of trusting you with my life and a positive perspective about my circumstances. Thank you that you are taking care of me today. In Jesus name Amen
