Today my husband and I were chatting with someone about their dream and how to move forward. They have done an incredible job of getting to where they are, and now it’s time for them to transition to the next level so that they can enjoy some of the fruits of their hard work and see their dream fully come to pass.
Transition of any sort takes effort and determining to keep growing and developing. It’s part of life and every new opportunity, phase and season is going to present moments of transitioning to the next level.
The first thing I have noticed however in the process of transition is the need to change our mindset. For instance if we have operated a business and developed it from the ground up and we want that business to continue to grow and develop, we are going to have to change our thinking and work from working “in” the business to “working on the business”. That takes some transition as we step back and write an overall plan, implement necessary changes, hand over tasks and delegate roles and learn to trust others so that we don’t have to be doing everything ourselves….
Our lives are full of the need to transition and I’ve noticed that when we don’t transition or travel through these changes well that we can struggle or even get stuck at a point in our journey and end up going round and round in circles. Because whether we like it or not we are faced with transition all through our lives; from a child to a teenager, teenager to an adult, a student to being in the work force, worker to manager, employee to employer, single to a couple, couple to a family, immature to mature, having no responsibilities to having others to care for..the list is endless. The question is whether we will fight these changes and need for transition, or embrace each new opportunity, change, new beginning and chance to grow.
Today if you know you have become stuck in a transition phase I encourage you to stop and assess what point you came to a stand still? Where did you fail to go to the next level or to take the next step when it was needed? What mindsets, fears or disappointments have caused you to fail to move forward in life in a healthy and productive way?
Take some time to write down where you would like to be in the future, pray and seek God for His wisdom and His healing and help with any transition barriers. Assess what you need to do and determine to take a step to move forward.
Some habits and mindsets will have to change as you transition; you may have to stop participating in some habits and ways of doing things, and start to learn new skills as you allow God to work in you. But the transition will be worth it because God has a amazing plan for your life and it’s always far greater than anything you could ever possibly imagine. (Ephesians 3:20)
Pray about everything, listen for God’s answer and know your dream and the future God has for you will be on the other side of that next step and choosing to make the transition.
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:9)
“See I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” (Isaih 43:19)
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”(Philippians 4:6-8)
Prayer: Lord I thank you that you go before me and guide me in the way to go. Please help me where I may have come to a stand still or not transitioned well through some particular phase in my life, relationships, or career. I want to keep moving forward so I ask that you help me transition well through every area of my life. In Jesus name Amen.
