1 Jan – You’ve got this!

You’ve got this“. It’s something I regularly to say to my kids and anyone I’m wanting to encourage. Primarily because it’s what God often says to me about a situation or regarding a new step I’m looking to take.

But there’s a reason why I know I can say, “I’ve got this.” It’s because God’s got me! He’s got me in his capable hands, I’m under His watchful and loving eye and I know that He will make all things work together for my good. Nothing can separate me from His love and nothing can take me away from my destiny or purpose as long as I just keep walking with and trusting Him.

Which is why when we choose to listen up and follow Jesus and His ways we can look at the New Year and our future with confidence. Because if God is for us who can be against us? Who can stand in our way? We may face trials and tests…..Jesus even said we would, but they won’t be permanent fixtures on our landscape. God actually says He will make the crooked places straight, that He will carry our burdens, that we can do all things through and in His strength, that we are blessed and highly favoured, both when we come in and when we go out. That we are the head and not the tail, above and not beneath and that He will give us success at whatever we put our hand to. (Romans 8:31; Isaiah 45:2; John 16:33; Psalm 55:22; Duet 28:6; Psalm 90:17)

Sounds like we’ve got every reason to boldly declare that, “We’ve got this!”

As you look into this New year don’t look ahead with fear or trepidation. Yes there may be challenges on the road, but be of good courage for those challenges are no match for Jesus and they won’t last with Him on your side. Plus you are far, far stronger than you think. God promises He will make a way and that your future is bright. His plans for you are filled with hope, joy and abundant life and He is faithful to complete what He has started in you.

Today choose to look up, to see with the perspective of heaven and to begin to expect and to declare, “Something great is going to happen to me today and something great is going to happen through me today”. Then get out there and know that with Jesus on your side “You’ve got this!”

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:9)

That’s right. Because I, your God, have a firm grip on you and I’m not letting go. I’m telling you, “Don’t panic. I’m right here to help you.” (Isaiah 41:13 Msg)

Prayer: Lord I’m trusting and putting my confidence in your goodness and love for me today. With you by my side I know that I can face the future with hope and that the year ahead looks bright and full of great things. So I say, “Bring it on” because with you, “I’ve got this!” In Jesus name amen.
