1 May – Move forward!

moving forward

One of the best ways to move forward and if necessary away from any negatives in our past is to not just walk away from something, but be walking towards something or someone. Otherwise we will always be drawn back to what we can see and are familiar with.

Whereas if we are looking at something or someone ahead of us that we desire and hold in our hearts then that directs where we are heading and gives us a clear goal and focus. Without that clear vision in front of us the bible says we run the risk of wandering aimlessly, and being at risk of getting off onto the wrong path; to be led astray or just end up living a life yet never doing anything that we really wanted to do and be. (Proverbs 29:18)

Paul a follower of Jesus who is very familiar with having to leave his past mistakes and guilt behind gives some wisdom on the subject of running towards our future and dreams says, “I admit that I haven’t yet acquired the absolute fullness that I’m pursuing, but I run with passion into his abundance so that I may reach the purpose that Jesus Christ has called me to fulfil and wants me to discover. I don’t depend on my own strength to accomplish this; however I do have one compelling focus: I forget all of the past as I fasten my heart to the future instead. “ (Philippians 3:12-13 The Passion Translation)

God has given us the ability to dream, to see, to imagine, to create and to believe. He wants to help us move forward to become all that He purposed and created us to be, and He says He will help us if we only allow Him to.

Sometimes to achieve these things in our hearts and minds we will need supernatural help and favour, but that’s okay because God specialises in both of these things. He is the God of breakthrough and provision, and even when we look at our circumstances and can’t see how it is possible, God says don’t look there, look at me, and see what I can do.

He wants to shower us with favour, blessings and promises; that He will do exceedingly more than we can ask, dream or imagine (Ephesians 3:20). When we partner with Him all things become possible, and all we need do is stay in connection and relationship with Jesus to enable His mighty power to work in and through us. That doesn’t mean it will all be smooth sailing or that we won’t have disappointments, but it does mean that He will work all things out for our good, and perfect that which concerns us. He is faithful to complete that which He started in us and if we keep delighting in Him He promises He will grant us the desires of our hearts.

“I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished”. (Philippians 1:6)

Make God the utmost delight and pleasure of your life, he will provide for you what you desire the most. Give God the right to direct your life, and as you trust him along the way you’ll find he pulled it off perfectly!” (Psalm 37:4-5)

Today what dream do you have in your heart? Are you looking ahead and seeking to move forward or are you looking behind? God wants to partner with and help you to become all you were created to be, and to have a life that is full and overflowing. Talk to Him about the dreams and plans in your heart, and for Him to heal and remove any disappointment, guilt or hurts from the past, and then ask Him to direct and guide your steps to begin to live the dreams and purpose He has placed in your heart.

Within your heart you can make plans for the future, but the Lord chooses the steps for you to take to get there”. (Proverbs 16:9)

Prayer: Lord please help me to let go of any past hurts so that I can move forward into the future you have for me. I don’t want to wander aimlessly or get off onto a wrong path, so please reveal to me the dreams in my heart again and that together with you I would begin to move forward to fulfil them. In Jesus name Amen.
