12 April – Choosing Life

On the day we celebrate that Jesus has risen and we remember all that He has done and continues to do for us, I was reminded of the importance of choosing life. To choose to receive, focus and take hold of the life of God that Jesus paid so high a price to give us.

That life of God or Zoe life is how God planned for us to live, or as Jesus himself put it, ” I have come that they may have life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows)” (John 10:10 Amp)

To have that life of God I’m discovering it’s important to focus on what stirs up and encourages life in us. If Jesus came to give life more abundantly, what does that mean for us? And if He gives us life why perhaps do we sometimes expect or allow a fear of loss or that God will withhold good things from us to be a belief or mindset, when Jesus clearly has abundance for us on his heart..

I’m learning that when we focus on who He says we are more than anything else, that our life begins to fill and overflow. It’s usually when we listen to others who don’t see as God does, or we allow ourselves to get off focus that we can start to feel depleted.

Today as we celebrate life and the victory over death that Jesus won for us I encourage you to find out and/or remind yourself who Jesus says you are, because there is life on that! He is our life source and when His words remain in us and we stay connected to Him we will bear much fruit and experience life as it’s meant to be. Every gift, ability and talent are grounded in Him and He will bless the work of our heart and our hands.

Focus on what is life giving in your world. It’s found in His presence, in His Word and with those people and pursuits that make you feel alive and energise, rather than deplete you. Where you feel rivers, like living water flowing within you and the hand of God upon your life and upon all that you do.

“If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit, so you will be my disciples.” (John 15:5-8)

“Whoever drinks this living water will never thirst again…..for when you drink the water I give you it becomes a gushing fountain of the Holy Spirit springing up and flooding you with endless life.” (John 14:4)

I have come that they may have life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows)” (John 10:10 Amp)

Prayer: Lord thank you for the gift of life in abundance. Please help me to focus on you and on those things which are life giving and part of your plan for me. Thank you for all that you have done and continue to do in and through me today. In Jesus name Amen.
