12 May - Best Advice

I was discussing a decision with someone today, and in the midst of the conversation, I said, "Let's investigate the options, but also wait on God to lead us in the way we should go. He'll show us if we are missing something or it's not the right direction to take because He gives the best advice".

I'm glad we took the time to pause and seek God because later that day, some things were revealed that helped us avoid trouble and, therefore, to look for another avenue to achieve our goals.

God promises He will guide and direct our steps and lead us where we should go, and if there is one thing I've discovered most helpful in life to getting to and becoming the person I was created to be, it's staying within the guidelines of God's Word and seeking his advice. If I'm unsure, don't know what to do, am faced with a situation or asked, "What would you do," by our kids or others I talk with, I go to God and what He says in the Bible then consistently do that. It simplifies everything, and the results are far more beneficial and impactful in the long run.

The Bible is your life instruction manual on relationships, handling your finances, being a great friend, partner, and follower of Jesus and understanding how heaven and God's kingdom work.

The Bible says, "His Word is a lamp for my feet, and a light on my path." (Psalm 119:105).

The Holy Spirit, who, once we choose to be a follower of Jesus, abides within us, will remind us of God's Word and speak to our thoughts and heart. He also gives understanding and revelation through dreams, visions, and inner promptings or knowing. He leads and guides us through our natural surroundings and circumstances, supernatural encounters and a spoken word by someone we may or may not know.

There is no limit to what God will do to keep His hand on our lives and for us to hear His voice directing our steps. (John 16:3)

The question for each of us is whether we'll be sensitive to His hand upon our lives and choose to listen and submit to His guidance, or will we run off doing our own thing?

Today, even if you can't see the point of having to wait, walk away, let go of, or be directed to or from a specific place or person, know that God always has your best interests at heart and a play in play for you to get to the place and opportunity that He has destined for you to walk in.

Trust God and allow Him to lead and advise you and determine every day to rest in Him so that He can guide and protect you, rather than being like an ass who needs a bit and bridle directing it where to go.

"Don't be stubborn like a horse or mule. (They need) a bit and bridle in their mouth to restrain them, or they will not come near you." (Psalm 32:9 God's Word translation)

"For whomever the Lord Jehovah loves, he instructs, and draws aside his children with whom he is pleased." (Hebrews 12:6 Aramaic bible)

"God's Word is perfect in every way; how it revives our souls! His laws lead us to truth, and his ways change the simple into wise. His teachings make us joyful and radiate his light; his precepts are so pure! His commands, how they challenge us to keep close to his heart! The revelation-light of his Word makes my spirit shine radiant. Every one of the Lord's commands is right; following them brings cheer. Nothing he says ever needs to be changed. The rarest treasures of life are found in his truth. That's why I prize God's Word like others prize the finest gold. Nothing brings the soul such sweetness as seeking his living words ". (Psalm 19: 7-11)

Prayer: Lord, thank you that you have the best advice and desire good things for my life. Please help me choose well every day and not be so willful that I miss what you are doing and have to go around in circles when I could have been on the right path. I trust you to lead me by your Word and presence today. In Jesus' name Amen
