Today I am away on a girls' holiday with 3 of our 4 daughters.
On route to the airport at 5am this morning I decided it was a great time to discuss some boundaries for the weekend. Primarily because even though all our kids love each other, they can be a lot and have been known to squabble.. Which is where the boundary chat came in. All relationships require healthy boundaries to make them work effectively. Without guidelines as to what is acceptable and what isn't, people, being people will more often than not overstep and hurt one another or say and do things that are not beneficial to anyone.
The good news is, I've discovered that when you follow the advice and guidelines found in the words of Jesus, everything will be better. If He and his word are what draws the boundaries, then life works far better and you start to live more like him - Being loving, generous, kind, courageous, and working miracles. It may irritate us at the time to have to hold that comment, let things slide, forgive, hold short accounts, and choose love over anything else, especially when we aren't feeling it. But consistently loving and living like Jesus, and putting what he asks first, reaps rewards in the end. I encourage you to take a look at the words and teachings Jesus gave on the way to live, how to have great relationships, and what to focus on in life.
He is always positive, expects the best and not the worst of people and circumstances, and encourages us to think about those things that are lovely, pure, and good. He knows that what and who you focus on is the direction that your thoughts, words, and actions will take. (Philippians 4:8). Plus, it's also what you will draw around your life and influence others with. Today determine to fix your focus on those things that will add to your life, and make Jesus your benchmark and guide. Then watch as your life starts to follow His example and you begin to live like Jesus. "Let us fix our eyes on Jesus. The author and finisher of our faith."(Hebrews 12:2) "Do not grow weary in doing good, for at the proper time, you will reap a harvest if you do not give up."(Galatians 6:9) "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways, acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." (Proverbs 3:5-6) Prayer: Lord, please help me to make what you say and teach to be my guide and benchmark as to how I live my life. Please full me with your strength and power today because I know as I follow you, everything will work out for good. In Jesus name, Amen
