There are some things that need to be shouted from the rooftops. Those things aren’t necessarily what you see splashed across the front page of the newspaper or on every news feed or face book post. You probably won’t actually find a lot of rooftop shouting news there. But I believe that there are things God does or says to us that are worth shouting out for all to hear. They are actually worth hearing about, but sadly we can far too often remain quiet!
Jesus however said, “What I tell you now in the darkness (secret), shout abroad when daybreak comes. What I whisper in your ear, shout from the housetops for all to hear.” (Mark 10:27)
Unfortunately many times we allow life to get in the way of “rooftop shouting business.” We allow fear, busyness and the concern that comes from listening to others, and/or of offending those with a different point of view or experience to cause us to keep silent. Which is unfortunate because the world and all the people in our sphere of influence need to know that there is good news, that there is hope, that God is on His throne, and that He is faithful to His promises. The world needs to see and hear of His love and goodness and His demonstrations of power at work in every person who says they believe in Him.
Peter in the bible is recorded as doing this when He “fairly exploded with his good news: “It’s God’s own truth, nothing could be plainer: God plays no favourites! It makes no difference who you are or where you’re from—if you want God and are ready to do as he says, the door is open.” (Acts 10:34-36 The Message Bible)
Today, I encourage you lift your expectation of what God can do. There are circumstances and strongholds in your life that He wants to set you free from and truth’s He longs to tell you in secret that then warrant being shouted from the rooftops. Don’t come under the circumstances you may be facing, but instead put your trust and faith in Jesus and what He says to be true and overcome your circumstances instead.
We get to choose – the hole that the devil has planned for our lives or the mountains and rooftops that God has for us to stand and shout from instead.
Start talking about and honouring God for the blessings, the good things, the big and small demonstrations and evidences of His love and goodness that you see in your day. Start talking about those things, and you’ll soon see that good things will actually start to increase around you, and suddenly your perspective will change and your life will become full of “rooftop shouting moments”.
Look up and listen today, and let Jesus reveal to you what He can and will do for you if you will only trust in His way of doing things.
“Jesus replied, “What is impossible with man is possible with God.” (Luke 18:27)
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” (Philippians 4:13)
Prayer: Lord thank you for those things that you share and do for me. Please help me to believe in you to meet every need, and to fulfil every dream and desire of my heart so that I continually have something new to shout from the rooftops. In Jesus Name Amen.
