This week I’ve joined a creatives art challenge and masterclass where people from all over the world are asked to upload samples of their work online as a way of encouraging and inspiring one another. We are also asked to challenge ourselves to produce something new every day for a week. One of the things that the not so experienced are struggling with is the issue of not believing they are good enough, as they compare themselves to the more accomplished artists. Some have even removed themselves from the group believing they are out of their league and have nothing to contribute.
The one thing however that keeps on being repeated in response to people’s feelings of insecurity is the need for everyone to not compare themselves to someone else, but to simply measure themselves against themselves, and how much they have grown. Everyone is being encouraged to keep practising and producing something, because it’s hard to improve when we give up.
More than ever I’m seeing how much we benefit from, “Letting go of our insecurities, determining to trust God with what He is doing within us and to keep moving forward”. At times we may feel like we are not going anywhere, growing or achieving anything. But if we are disciplined in our consistency, remain working at what we believe is before us and spend time with God and follow what His Word says, we will be encouraged and continue to be transformed into the best version of ourselves.
Our walk with God and the destiny He has for each of us is a long walk and even though we may be in a hurry for quick fixes and results, God is not! He is in the business of revealing, renewing, developing and if necessary restoring His masterpiece – which is YOU. But great masterpieces that stand the test of time take time, gentleness, patience, perseverance and persistence to create. All of which God has an endless supply of.
Today if you are feeling frustrated with your progress or how long the journey to where you want to go is taking, be encouraged. Keep walking, keep practising, keep honing your skills and talking and listening to Jesus and reading and following His Word. If you continue to do these things you will improve and get better at what you do and desire to become, even if you don’t initially see it. For God has promised He will finish the good work He has begun in you till it is completed.
“For I am confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will continue to perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.” ” (Philippians 1:6)
“The Lord will perfect that which concerns me; Your mercy, O Lord, endures forever.” (Psalm 138:8)
Prayer: Lord thank you that You are faithful to complete that which you have begun in us, and only need us to be willing and obedient to your direction and guidance. Please help me to keep consistently walking step by step with you every day, trusting that you will perfect that which concerns me. In Jesus name Amen.
