15 Jan – How To Have Everything You Need

Most people would agree that testing and challenges are not usually a fun space or something we would seek. I, for one, do not enjoy tests.

However, God encourages us to hold steady whenever we are faced with a challenge because He knows it’s also in this place of discomfort and stretching that we have the opportunity to exercise our faith and patience.

The rest of James 1 in the bible says something that should encourage us. It says to allow patience to have its perfect work in us. Whatever pressure we experience if we allow patience to develop (by keeping our faith operating) into a mature state, we will want nothing. We will be complete lacking nothing.

I like the idea of lacking nothing and having everything I need, and even though I wouldn’t say I like having to put patience to work all the time, God does say one of the keys to receiving is patience. It’s, “Through faith and patience, we inherit the promises of God” (Hebrews 6:12)

The definition of patience is a “cheerful endurance or “constancy”, (you do it over and over) and together with faith, it brings together God’s promises in your life.

When you allow patience to have its perfect work, you will grow to a place where Jesus has become your source for everything and you know He is faithful to His promises.

Be encouraged today to keep putting patience, mixed with your faith to work so that you will be mature and complete lacking nothing.

The Lord is my Shepherd; I lack nothing.” (Psalm 23:1 NIV)

My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.” (James 1:1-4 NKJV)

“For the LORD God is a sun and shield; The LORD will give grace and glory; No good thing will He withhold From those who walk uprightly.” (Psalm 84:11 NKJV)

Prayer: Lord, thank you for your promises and that you do exceeding abundantly above all that I can ask or think, according to your power that works in me. Please help me allow patience, mixed with faith to work in my life today to lack nothing. In Jesus name Amen.
