One of my favourite passages in the bible is Ephesians 3:20, which says, "Now to Him who is able to [carry out His purpose and] do superabundantly more than all that we dare ask or think [infinitely beyond our greatest prayers, hopes, or dreams], according to His power that is at work within us."
It's a challenge I think from God to believe bigger because He is the God of more than enough; whatever we can believe for, He wants to out do it.
Even when something difficult or disappointing happens, God promises that He will work good out of it in our life and teach and grow us if we allow Him to lead, guide and heal us continually. As I say, if it's not good yet, God's not done yet". (Romans 8:28)
The key is to keep walking and looking at Jesus until the disappointment or hurt is somehow turned around for good. Where we feel stolen from or know the devil has been messing with our life; our relationships, finances, health, hopes and dreams, we can demand he pays us back sevenfold because he is a defeated foe as a result of what Jesus did for us on the cross.
Jesus said, "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full." (John 10:10)
"But if he (the thief) is caught, he must pay back seven times what he stole, even if he has to sell everything in his house." (Proverbs 6:31)
When the Israelites left Egypt as slaves, the Egyptians were asked by Moses to give them silver and gold to take on their journey; they gave so much that Moses had to ask them to stop because they had such an abundance (Exodus 12:35 -36)
Jesus, when he fed the 5000 with a little boy's lunch, provided more than enough to eat for everyone and 12 baskets of food were left over. (Matthew 14:13-21)
Jesus' miracle of turning the water into wine at a wedding resulted in not just good wine being served, but the best wine, and in abundant quantities. (John 2:1-11)
Today I want to encourage you to keep believing because God wants to exceed whatever you are believing and dreaming for.
His answer may sometimes look a little different from what you initially thought. But He has a perfect plan and is the God of abundance, constantly thinking up new ways to lavish his love upon you and to exceed your expectations. (1 Peter 5:7; 1 John 3:1; Ephesians 3:20)
Trust Him, give Him your hurts and concerns. Keep walking and choose to continually fix your eyes and heart on Jesus as you expect something amazing to happen in your life.
"Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight." (Proverbs 3:5-6)
"And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work." (2 Corinthians 9:8)
"He is the Rock, his works are perfect, and all his ways are just. A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is he." (Duet 32:4)
Prayer; Lord, thank you for being faithful and promising to do more than I can ask, think or imagine. I give you my concerns today and ask that you would do superabundantly more in my life. In Jesus name Amen.
