20 April - Perfect Timing

I’m realising more and more that God causes things to happen at precisely the right time. The more we get to know Him, the more we understand that we can trust Him because He only wants the best for us. We don’t have to know everything that is going to happen, only that He is in control and everything will be alright.

God gives us hopes and dreams for certain things to happen in our lives, but He doesn’t always allow us to see the exact timing of His plan. Perhaps because there are times when we might give up if we knew how long it would take or how long the process would be.

In our times of waiting, God accomplishes what He needs to in our lives. He stretches our faith to bring change and growth, and when he moves on something doors open where previously they were closed and we can suddenly find ourselves catapulted into our destiny rather than having to struggle and strive to make things happen by ourselves.

There is, however, a wrong way and a right way to wait. If we wait the wrong way, we will make ourselves miserable and undoubtedly make everyone else miserable around us. But if we decide to wait for God’s way, we become patient and, with practice, even discover how to be at peace in the wait. We learn to go with what God is doing and enjoy the process, and all God is perfecting in our lives. The bible says as we wait patiently, we grow, lack nothing, and are completely satisfied.

But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing”. (James 1:4)

Joseph, Moses, the Israelites, and David are just a few of the people whose stories remind us that whenever we have to wait, God will take care of us and show us what to do. God’s perfect timing works as a training period, where He requires us to do what He tells us to do, when He tells us to do it.

When we accept God’s timing, we can learn to live with an expectation of the good things ahead and then choose to enjoy life while God is working in us and on our behalf.

Today trust God and set your heart to believe that He wants only the best for you. Believing brings rest, so stop trying to figure everything out, let God be God, and trust He will cause the best things to happen.

Lean on, trust in, and be confident in the Lord with all your heart and mind and do not rely on your own insight or understanding. In all your ways, know, recognise, and acknowledge Him, and He will direct and make straight and plain your paths”. (Proverbs 3:5-6)

“I trusted in, relied on, and was confident in You, O Lord; I said, You are my God. My times are in your hands”.(Psalm 31:14-15)

“To everything, there is a season, and a time for every matter or purpose under heaven.” (Ecclesiastes 3:1)

Prayer: Lord, help me learn how to wait and rest in you. Help me to understand and know that you only have good things in store for me and that when you move at the appointed time, things happen because you are working for me. In Jesus Name Amen
