21 May - Wrestling Crocodiles

I love how kids can imagine and dream big. They aren’t put off by practicalities, finances, or their age and size but believe that anything is possible. Our youngest son Isaac regularly asks for a kangaroo or to go out and catch and wrestle crocodiles. The dangers, lack of practicability, and cost never seem to enter his mind as he daily requests that we go on some grand adventure. It’s one of the things I love about him, and I do not doubt that eventually because he keeps dreaming and imagining the sort of life he wants, he will get to live it. Plus, it’s his Dad and I’s job to help prepare and equip Isaac to pursue what’s in his heart and see it happen.

I believe God loves it when we dream as Isaac does. He wants us to connect to Him and His power that works within us so that He can lead and guide us to make our dreams a reality.

The bible says, “Now to Him who can (carry out His purpose and) do superabundantly more than all that we dare ask or think (infinitely beyond our greatest prayers, hopes or dreams), according to His power that is at work within us.” (Ephesians 3:20 AMP)

Unfortunately, the world’s view of God is that God wants to squash our dreams and that He is out to spoil our fun, and we can start believing that about Him too. But that couldn’t be further from the truth. I’ve discovered that God is the one who places seeds of greatness, increase, and the desire to do amazing things in us. King David as a young man was reprimanded by his family for being proud and too big for his boots when he asked about fighting Goliath, but God wasn't phased by his courage or presumption that he could fight a massive giant. He was with him and equipped and enabled him to both win and become a national hero. 1 Samuel 17; Jeremiah 29:11; Ephesians 2:10;

God is ahead of us when it comes to the dream department and when one dream has been fulfilled, He’s releasing and encouraging us to focus on a new one.

Today what are you dreaming about? What do you believe your future to look like? Because God is looking to fulfill what He’s hidden in your heart.

A point to remember when dreaming is that God never gives you a dream and then checks your bank account, age if anyone else has done it before, or anything that you or others may see as roadblocks; He’s checking your faith because any dream orchestrated and planted in your heart by God will always take a measure of faith for it to come to pass. That’s what makes your dreams a place where you have the opportunity to grow from faith to faith and why the future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.

I encourage you to dream big today and be determined to do something every day to prepare, equip and position yourself to make it happen.

You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream.” (C.S. Lewis)

Prayer: Lord, please stir up the dreams within my heart, and give me a fresh vision for the future. I want to begin today to be a person who believes in the future and the beauty of my dreams. In Jesus name Amen.
