22 Jan - Wisdom for a Purposeful Life

As I was scrolling through my phone notes today, I came across some thoughts I had written down over the years. It made me realize how often we collect pearls of wisdom and take the time to write them down, but in the busyness of life, or when our hearts and minds are cluttered with other things, we can forget.

Jesus spoke about His words being like seeds that a farmer sows. Some fall on good soil, allowing them to grow and bear fruit. In the same way, when we hear something God is saying and grab hold of it, it flourishes in our lives. But sometimes, when our hearts are distracted or preoccupied, those words get crowded out, like seeds sown in rocky or thorny soil, and they don’t bear fruit.

Today, I want to share some thoughts from my phone notes, that I think were little seeds that Jesus scattered. I hope they’ll find good soil in your heart and bear fruit in your life too.

  1. Your small wins are like keys that open big doors – Often, the little victories in our daily lives are the keys that unlock the bigger doors to our dreams. You don’t need to wait for a grand event to feel excited about progress. Those steady, small steps are what lead you to where you want to go.

  2. “Don’t leave something, go to something” – It’s easy to feel like we’re just going through the motions. But when we focus on where we’re going instead of what we’re leaving behind, everything starts to make sense. Let this thought guide your decisions this week: Don’t leave something, go to something.

  3. “Find your why, and you’ll find your way” – When you discover your "why"—the reason that makes your heart leap and your dreams burn with purpose—you’ll find your path. I believe that when we align our hearts with God's will, He equips us with everything we need to walk confidently on the journey ahead.

  4. “Pain is never permanent” – When life feels overwhelming, remember this: In the chaos, God is right there with a whisper, offering peace. Pain is never permanent, and He is the One who heals our hearts and directs our steps. Psalm 107:28 says, “He calmed the storm with a whisper and stilled the waves.”

  5. “Today has the potential to be your best day ever!” – We can’t change the past, but we have the power to shape our future. No matter what challenges you face today, praise and thanksgiving are powerful weapons that can bring peace and clarity.

  6. “Praise is an on-ramp into heavenly places” – Psalm 100:4 tells us, “We enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise.” When we choose to praise, we step into God’s presence .

  7. “Love is a powerful force that can change the world” – Love never fails. It’s the force that activates everything in our lives—our faith, our prayers, and our ability to experience God's miracles. Love connects us to the fullness of God’s presence, and through that connection, we begin to see the world with new eyes.

As Teresa of Avila beautifully said, "The closer one approaches to God, the simpler one becomes." The beauty of faith is that it clears the clutter and brings us back to what really matters: love, peace, faith, and simplicity. I encourage you to draw nearer to Jesus this week, allowing His love to simplify and transform your life

May today bring peace within. May you trust that you are exactly where you are meant to be. May you not forget the infinite possibilities born of faith. May you use the gifts you’ve received and pass on the love given to you. May you find contentment in knowing you are a child of God. Let this presence settle into your bones and free your soul to sing, dance, praise, and love. It is available to each one of us." – Teresa of Avila

"For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope." — Jeremiah 29:11 (ESV)

Prayer: Lord, thank You for Your love that empowers me to walk confidently in Your will. Please help me stay connected to You and walk in love, trusting that You are orchestrating my steps. Fill my heart with Your peace and presence today. I choose to thank You in all things, knowing You are with me always. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
