23 Mar – He cares about every detail of our life

If there is one thing I often hear people say in reference to God and talking to Him in prayer it is that, “God is busy with more important things so I don’t want to bother Him with my situation or concerns”. Perhaps people think and believe this because secretly they feel unworthy and undeserving of Gods notice and care and as a result they won’t even bother to bring their requests and concerns to Him unless it is something major or their prayers are for someone else.

Which is all a bit unfortunate and not at all what God wants us to relate to Him like. Jesus taught that not even a tiny sparrow falls to the ground without Him noticing, and that He knows every hair upon our head, our thoughts before we even speak them and the hidden desires and secrets within our hearts. Nothing is hidden from His sight nor too insignificant for Him to take notice of, and He actually wants us to talk with Him, to bring our concerns and requests before Him and to share every detail of our lives with Him so that He can respond with answers, do abundantly more than we’ve asked for and build our faith and relationship with Him in the process.

This week I was reminded of Gods kindness and concern for these little everyday situations we face when I spent the day travelling around from place to place with one of our daughters as she did her job. On arriving at her first location rain suddenly started pouring down to such an extent that anyone getting out of their vehicle without an umbrella would very quickly get soaked. My daughter had to park quite a distance from her destination, had forgotten her umbrella and was busy lamenting this fact and the prospect of getting very wet when I reminded her that God cares about her getting wet, and that we can do something about the rain. Over the last few years we have been discovering afresh our authority in Jesus and how we can shift the weather, much the same as Jesus calmed the storm and silenced the wind and the waves. (Mark 4: 35-41) So if  Jesus did it then so can we. I reminded my lovely daughter of this and that it wouldn’t take long to sort the weather, as she well knew and had experienced for herself in the past. I quickly told the clouds to close up and the rain to stop and suddenly instead of heavy rain clear skies appeared and the rain stopped falling so my daughter was able to walk to and from her car all day without getting rained on at all.

Now many might say that this was just a coincidence, but I’ve seen rain stop, clouds close or open up, storms averted, fog vanish and weather patterns changed so many times now in answer to prayer as I or others speak to the elements that I don’t really believe that to be the case.

Primarily because God is interested in the smallest detail of our life. If it matters to us, it matters to Him which means nothing is too insignificant for Him to show Himself strong on our behalf. Weather changing, locating a parking spot, finding lost or misplaced items, meeting someone at an opportune moment, being healed, having wisdom in a situation or just knowing what to do and having the strength to do it are all everyday things that God wants to be involved in.

The only problem in all of this is that we often lack any expectation of God doing anything for us, believe we are unworthy or a bother and look for answers in the natural realm causing us to fail to believe and declare anything to happen supernaturally, and as the bible says, “you have not because you ask not”.  (James 4:2-3)

The littlest things in our day do matter to God. Our struggles, joy’s, wins and losses matter. He cares about a foggy day spoiling our plans or whether we stay warm and dry at work, especially if it will cause disappointment or do us harm to be otherwise. He cares when we misplace that important paperwork, can’t find a parking spot, or need a meeting or situation to go well. Sometimes things may not work out exactly as we envisage, but I’ve discovered if we maintain a great attitude, believe God will work all things out for our good and look for the “silver lining” God always comes through for us – be that instantly or at another God appointed time.

God’s timing and ways are never late and always perfect, and He wants us to learn to trust Him everyday even whilst in the middle of things and to keep expecting to see His goodness revealed in even the smallest detail of our lives, because He does care about it, because He cares about us.

I encourage you today to expect more.. go look in the bible at some of the wild, crazy stuff God does for people who are bold enough to believe and confident enough in their relationship and His promises to ask Him for what they need, desire and are believing for in their future. And remember if it matters to you it’ll matter to God because He loves and wants the best for you and nothing is too hard or too insignificant for him to answer.

Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.” (Matthew 7:7)

Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us” (Ephesians 3:20)

“Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” (Hebrews 4:16)

Prayer: Lord I’m believing and expecting for you to move in the big and the little things of my life. Please help me to ask and have faith in who you are, who you say I am and the authority I have in you to shift, change and breakthrough in mine and others lives today. In Jesus name Amen
