In a world where many things are expendable, disposable and easily thrown away it is no surprise that many projects, resolutions, and promises are left incomplete. Instead of finishing or seeing the value in something enough to restore, revamp or reuse it in some way we often simply throw it away and get another one.
Maybe that is why we can so often short-change ourselves when it comes to our own personal growth physically, spiritually, mentally and emotionally. We’ve picked up the mindset of if it’s too much effort why bother, and we either trade what we have for another one or don’t make the effort to change where necessary and so remain the way the same even when it’s obvious we need to deal with or grow in certain areas of our life. This relates not just to our physical and mental health, but also our relationships and the effort we may or may take to make them both thrive and survive the test of time. Our spiritual walk can also suffer as we fail to explore and discover all that Jesus has to reveal to us, meaning we can settle for far less than what He has for us.
Jesus however does not overlook nor see us unimportant. He loves and accepts us just the way we are, but He also loves us far too much to leave us with some of the things we carry around with us. Even when we may feel like our life, relationships, health and future is fit only for the scrapheap He is in the business of restoration, healing, and making all things like new in our lives. He makes statements like, “I will perfect that which concerns you, and will complete that which I have started in you; that you are My masterpiece, created with good things to do, and that I have a book in heaven with all My plans and purposes for your life story written in it. If we miss it, stray down the wrong path, or suffer disappointments and hurts Jesus won’t give up on us. He will just keep loving us and calling, working and perfecting us to be all that He has created us to be. (Philippians 1:6; Ephesians 2:10; Psalm 139)
No matter where you are at and what your past or present situation is Jesus wants you to know He hasn’t given up on you, nor does He see you as unimportant or not worth the effort. He gave His life for you, and then conquered sin, death and every evil so that you might know Him, receive His forgiveness, and live a life full of joy. He says you are worth any effort He may have to make to help you breakthrough, and promises that He will finish what He has started in you.
Today if you are running from Jesus, I encourage you to stop and turn to Him. He’s been calling you for a very long time to come to Him and lay down your load. If you feel a failure or wonder if you or life in general is even worth it any more or can amount to anything know that it is. Jesus has so much more and He says your life is valuable and worth everything to Him. He sees you and promises that if only you’ll follow Him He will lead you to a life that exceeds anything you could ask, thing or possibly imagine. (Ephesians 3:20)
‘Being confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will complete it.” (Philippians 1:6)
“God..I’m an open book to you; even from a distance you know what I am thinking. You know when I leave and when I get back; You know everything I’m going to say before I start the first sentence. I look behind me and you’re there, then up ahead and you’re there, too.” (Psalm 139:1-6 The Message Translation)
