26 August - How To Keep Going

I received a lovely message this week encouraging me on how far and high I had come in my journey. It caused me to reflect on just how much we are capable of when we step out and embrace new opportunities.

The truth is it's taken perseverance to see the measure of success I’m having and a belief in myself and in God that He would equip and empower me to do all that He has laid on my heart to do. In consistency, there is real power to achieve and become the best version of ourselves.

I’ve discovered that one key to persevering and remaining consistent is guarding our hearts and not allowing hopelessness, which tries to separate us from God’s promises, to take root in our heart.

Primarily because hopelessness will sap your strength, cloud your vision, and tempt you to compromise in your decision to follow Jesus’ way of living and the commands in his Word. Whereas keeping our hope based on God’s promises, His purpose for our lives and trusting that He will complete what He has started in us will empower us to remain steadfast and to persevere until we reap the harvest of our effort and prayers. God will work all things together for our good, especially when we do not grow weary and give up. (Romans 8:28; Galatians 6:9 NIV)

God created you so that you would be able to live the full and overflowing life that He has planned and desires for you. (John 10:10)

Today keep running your own race. God has a dream and destiny for you and will strengthen and hold you steady to complete that which He's started in you.

1. Hold onto hope by meditating and renewing your thoughts and heart with what God has promised. Google his promises if you need to, and write them down and keep before you what God has said so that you can speak it out whenever you are feeling discouraged.

He is alert and active, watching over his word to perform it, so it’s powerful when you declare what God has spoken. (Jeremiah 1:12 NIV; Psalm 103:20 KJV)

2. Choose to spend time and listen to like-minded people who are determined to live hopeful and in pursuit of God’s purpose for their lives too.

3. Keep the vision before you and consistently do something every day to fulfil all that God has placed in your heart.

Keep going - all of heaven is cheering you on today. (Hebrews 12:1-2 NIV)

Prayer: Lord, please strengthen and encourage me today to persevere so that at the appointed time, I will reap the reward of not quitting. Thank you for the hope I have in you and that I can do all things because you give me strength. In Jesus name Amen.
