Those words, “its all going to be okay” are what many of us need to hear on a regular, if not daily basis. Because sometimes lets face it we all feel like things are not in any way, shape or form okay!
The night we heard that my younger brother Shaun’s plane had not arrived at its destination and was missing was probably one of the worst nights for all my family’s lives. We sat waiting and waiting, answering phone calls and praying and hoping that we would hear some good news. In the midst of this time I heard God’s quiet still voice say something to me. He said “its going to be okay. It’ll be really hard for a while, but you’re going to be okay.” Shortly afterwards we got the call to hear that Shaun’s plane had crashed and there were no survivors.
I’ve learnt that even in the midst of really hard times God is there. We may not understand why or what is going on at the time but what I’ve discovered in the middle of things we don’t need to focus on why’s and what if’s – sometimes there is no easy answer to why things happen . What’s important in the middle of things is that we recognise that we are not alone, and regardless of how we feel or what it looks like God does care about us and if we hold onto Jesus regardless of the why’s, what if’s and crazy things that happen around us, we are going to be okay.
Today whatever sort of day you are facing, know you are never alone because God is with you and He cares. You may have a few bumps and bruises, and even some wounds that will take time to heal. You will get some faith muscles you didn’t have before and learn some lessons you might wish you hadn’t had to learn quite so painfully, but keep walking, keep looking to Jesus and you will be okay!
“Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.” (Isaiah 41:10)
Prayer: Lord thank you that you care about me and that you will never leave me to handle life’s circumstances alone. Help me to remember that today. In Jesus name Amen
