The wonderful thing about each of us is that God has made us unique. There’s nobody else like me, and nobody else like you. And in a world that seeks to categorise and shape everyone to look, talk, dress, and live out their beliefs and faith in certain frameworks, it's refreshing to be reminded that God loves uniqueness. Otherwise, he would have made everything grey and monotone, rather than what we see before us in a world full of sights, sounds, and colours.
I’ve been reminded of the importance of uniqueness over the past few weeks, as I have been mixing with highly creative people. As I’ve talked to everyone, it’s struck me how important it is that we embrace our uniqueness and learn to love and enjoy the “skin we’re in” rather than imitate and become a muted, less vibrant copy of someone else.
Just as parents delight in seeing their children discover who they are and use and enjoy their gifts and abilities, our Heavenly Father does too. He sees and knows all about you and has the best and most amazing plan for your life as you choose to follow His guidance, acceptance, and love.
Today quit worrying, comparing, and using up your energy trying to fit in or be someone else and take time to discover, try new things and step out into all that God has made you be.
“Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you” (Jeremiah 1:5)
"O Lord, you have searched me and known me! You know when I sit down and when I rise up; you discern my thoughts from afar. You search out my path and my lying down and are acquainted with all my ways. Even before a word is on my tongue, behold, O Lord, you know it altogether. You hem me in, behind and before, and lay your hand upon me.” (Psalm 139)
Prayer: Lord, thank you that you know me and have made me unique and special. Please help me embrace all that you have made me be and to enjoy the journey. In Jesus Name, Amen.
