What a positive impact on the world we could make if we took the time to find out what people are believing and dreaming for and then we chose to help them in whatever way we could. For there is a great deal of fulfilment in focusing not just on ourselves but on others.
Benjamin Franklin once said, “Most people die from the neck up by age twenty-five because they stop dreaming”. Which is why those around you can benefit hugely from your encouragement and assistance. Everybody can be somebody when a person is willing to take the time to understand and believe in them and their dreams.
The exciting result of encouraging and helping others where you can is that as you help one person, you have the opportunity to impact an innumerable amount of other people. What you give to one overflows into the lives of all that person impacts too.
Zig Ziglar, a highly successful motivational speaker and trainer, once said, “You can have everything you want in life if you just help other people get what they want.”
Helping other people get what they want looks a lot like genuine love. It’s the sort of love the world desperately needs to see and experience more of.
The Bible describes love as “patient and kind. It does not want what belongs to others. It does not brag. It is not proud. It does not dishonour other people. It does not look out for its own interests. It does not easily become angry. It does not keep track of other people’s wrongs. Love is not happy with evil. But it is full of joy when the truth is spoken. It always protects. It always trusts. It always hopes. It never gives up”. (1 Corinthians 13:4-7)
You can make an impact in someone’s life for good if you take the time to listen, understand and help them become all they were created and desire to be. Because in the end, dreams aren’t enough, as important as dreams are. People’s dreams need a plan, strategy, encouragement, and the skills to fulfil them. And “God puts people in our lives on purpose so we can help them succeed and become all He created them to be. Most people will not reach their full potential without somebody else believing in them.” (Joel Osteen)
Today look for where you can encourage and support someone else’s dreams and goals. It’s one of the easiest ways to make an impact in the world and to be a facilitator of change as you help people believe in the power of their dreams.
“The generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.” (Proverbs 11:25)
Prayer: Lord, please help me to understand others around me and to be able to recognise their potential so I can encourage them to fulfil their dream and purpose. Thankyou that as I refresh others I too will be refreshed. In Jesus Name Amen.
