30th April - "Stressed? This Is the One Voice You Need to Hear"

This week, Australia heads into an election—and if you’ve been watching the news, scrolling socials, or just trying to avoid the conversations around it, you’ll know how loud the world can feel. Opinions, debates, headlines… everywhere we turn, there’s noise.

But it’s not just elections. Life can be loud. Work is noisy. Kids, family, everyday activity—it’s all noisy.

Author Tsh Oxenreider wrote, “Jesus often speaks to us best in the silence. In the nooks and crannies of our life, when we're willing to ignore the cacophony.”

That’s why today, I took some much-needed time to sit quietly with Jesus. No agendas. No background noise. Just stillness. And in that stillness, I was reminded of something powerful:

“You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in You, all whose thoughts are fixed on You.” — Isaiah 26:3 (NLT)

That's God's promise to us, that He will keep us in perfect peace as we fix our thoughts on Him.

And that’s exactly what happened.

As I sat, I felt God gently remind me:

“He is a God who does what is right and smooths out the path ahead of us.” — Isaiah 26:7 (NLT)

When we choose to step away from the noise and lean into Jesus, to read and think about what His words, He meets us there. He calms our fears. He lifts our burdens. He restores our perspective.

In the quiet, we’re not ignoring what’s going on—we’re realigning our hearts with truth. And the truth is: Jesus sees every detail. He hasn’t missed a single thing. He loves us and is already going ahead, preparing the way.

So if you're anxious today—whether it's because of elections, the state of the world or your nation, your circumstances, or just the busyness of life—take a moment.

“Fix your thoughts on what is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable… and the God of peace will be with you.” — Philippians 4:8–9 (NKJV)

Make space to sit quietly with Jesus. Let His peace silence the chatter and His truth break through the noise.

Action Steps for Today:

  1. Find 10 quiet minutes. Turn off the noise, open your Bible and journal, and simply sit with Jesus and write down what you are feeling and what He speaks to your heart.

  2. Put Scripture in front of you. On your mirror, screensaver, or fridge—let God's truth be louder than the headlines.

  3. Ask yourself: What have I been fixing my mind on lately—peace or panic?

  4. Re-center. Read Isaiah 26:3 aloud and let it reset your perspective.

Think and Say:

  • “God’s peace is greater than the world’s noise.”

  • “In the quiet, I remember who I am—and who He is.”

  • “No matter what’s ahead, God’s already there."

Prayer:

Lord, Thank You that I can find perfect peace in You, even in the middle of a noisy world. While headlines change and opinions change from one minute to the next, You remain steady. Please help me to regularly sit in the quiet with You, to hear Your voice, and to realign my thoughts with truth. Thank You that You are smoothing out the path ahead of me, and that I can trust You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

“The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.” — Deuteronomy 31:8 (NIV)

Don’t let the noise drown out the One voice that truly matters. His peace is closer than you think. (If this encouraged you, share it with someone who needs stillness today—and follow for weekly faith and perspective.)
