I get busy and interrupted often in the middle of doing a task and need to come back to finish off what I’ve been doing a lot of the time. However I now have this really bad habit of leaving things open on my computer and often leave them sitting there for weeks until eventually my computer has an absolute “sad” at me and decides it is not going to do anything until I have sorted out my mess. Instead of cooperating it just sits there spinning it’s little colourful wheel at me…and does nothing! This tendency also seems to happen at the most inconvenient times when I really need my computer to work.
Today once again I discovered a whole series of documents open on my laptop full of my thoughts, plans and numerous blogs I have been editing. They were all sitting hidden from my immediate view but nevertheless not sorted and in the right place. Perhaps I thought I had dealt with and deleted or saved them but of course I hadn’t, and my computer was not happy. Its capacity was overloaded and all its functions were operating so slowly until I took the time and effort to sort things out.
Computers in a lot of ways are much the same as us. We also can get ourselves in a heap of trouble; become overloaded, slowed down in our capacity and ability to function and eventually end up uselessly “spinning our wheels” if we do not sort, delete and file things appropriately in our emotional, mental and spiritual world’s. We aren’t designed to carry excess “files” and needless information, try and do too many things at once or leave business in our life unfinished indefinitely. Because if we do we will eventually become stuck in one spot or fixate on a particular issue and unable to be what we are created to be, nor excel in our abilities. Much like my computer cannot function and perform at its best if I don’t treat it correctly and follow it’s operating manual.
Today I encourage you not to wait until you crash like my computer or to waste valuable time “spinning your wheels” because you allowed yourself to become overloaded with unfinished business. Learn to stop; to sort, save, delete and consistently clean up any mess in your world so that you can function and excel in your life as your designer intended.
“Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.”(Proverbs 4:23 NIV)
“Cast your burden on the Lord, and He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved.”(Psalm 55:22)
“Cast all your anxiety upon Him because He cares for you.”(1 Peter 5:7)
Prayer: Lord please give me the wisdom, strength and ability to sort, save, delete and clean up my life so that I can be all that you created me to be. Thank you that I can live my best life in you today as I look to your word as my operating manual to live life well and to the fullest. In Jesus name Amen.
