8 January - How Not To Worry

As a mum of six children and two grand-babies, I know what it is to worry. Unfortunately, I can be a bit of an expert at it. However, over the years, I have also learnt how important it is to shut down worry and to bring all I have in my heart and mind to God in prayer.

Why pray instead of worry? Because the kingdom of heaven and answers to our needs and wants are manifest in our life through prayer! I know from experience that worry does nothing except make me annoying and stressful to be around. Yet when I pray, I gain peace and confidence that everything is going to be alright and God's plans to overcome any issues that may have arisen are revealed. It may not always look as I first thought, but I’m continually learning that if things aren’t good or complete, God isn’t finished working on the situation yet.

God’s destiny doesn’t unfold through worrying or going round and round in circles over issues in our heads. God’s plans are realised by our prayers and faith in what we believe and can dare to ask for. (Ephesians 3:20) God promises repeatedly say, He has only good in store for our lives. He will do exceedingly more than I can ask, think, or dream; He has prepared amazing things in advance for me to walk in, and Jesus came to give me an overflowing, abundant life. In other words, God is good, and He wants us to pray and believe from the perspective that He is good (far better than we think) and heaven is on our side. Today I encourage you to know that God always has expansion, blessing and joy in mind when He looks at you and those you love. He longs to cover you with his love and blessings. With that in mind, don’t fall into worry or run needlessly around stressing. Instead, seek God for his heart, plan and strategy to move forward, and invite heaven to earth as you pray that His will be done on earth as it is in heaven over your life.(Matthew 6:9-13)

“Do not be anxious or worried about anything, but in everything (every circumstance and situation) by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, continue to make your specific requests known to God. And the peace of God (that peace which reassures your heart, that transcends all understanding, (that peace which) stands guard over your hearts, and your minds in Christ Jesus is yours.(Philippians 4:6-7 AMP) He has brought me to his banqueting place, and his banner over me is love (waving overhead to protect and comfort me.)(Song of Solomon 2:4) Prayer: Lord, thank you that you have only good on your heart for us. Please help me trust you, pray, and bring my concerns to you instead of worrying. Thank you that you have my life in your hands. In Jesus name Amen.
