The economics which Jesus teaches aren’t politically correct. He says that the person who won’t work and is irresponsible with what he has, will be left with nothing. Even what he does have will be given to the person who has the most.
Primarily because God sees and rewards those who are faithful and will make the most of the gifts, talents and opportunities they’ve been given.
It‘s about being diligent with what God has given us, even if they seem small and insignificant. When we can be trusted with a little, God sees and will trust us with more.
In Matthew 25:14-31, we read the parable of the men who were entrusted with the talents. One was given five talents, traded them and doubled what he had; one was given two talents and gained two more; but the man with one talent dug a hole in the ground and hid his master’s money. To the first two, the master spoke these words, “Well done, good and faithful servant. You were faithful with a few things, I will put you in charge of many things, enter into the joy of your master” To the last servant however who hid his share the master called him wicked and ordered, “Take the money from this servant, and give it to the one with ten bags of silver. To those who use well what they are given, even more will be given, and they will have an abundance.”
Jesus economics are that, “If you are faithful with what you are given, you will be faithful in large ones. But if you are dishonest in little things, you won’t be honest with greater responsibilities.” (Luke 16:10)
If we want our lives to be different and we have dreams and desires that are yet to happen, then we can’t lose focus or become lazy with what we have in our hands.
Instead we determine to keep honing our skills and seeking to be all that we can be. To give everything our very best and to put effort and priority into our relationship with Him and others. To carefully measure our speech and actions, remain faithful in the everyday things and continue to look forward to the future.
Then we can expect God to bring the increase because His economics are that He rewards those who are diligent and faithful.
“But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that he is and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” (Hebrews 11:6)
“For I know the plans and thoughts that I have for you,’ says the Lord, ‘plans for peace and well-being and not for disaster to give you a future and a hope.” (Jeremiah 29:11 AMP)
Prayer: Lord help me to appreciate all that you have given me and to not judge anything as too little or insignificant. Please give me the wisdom and motivation to make the most of every opportunity and to expect you to bring the increase. In Jesus name Amen.
