I was thinking today of the people who have had an input into my life or influenced me in some way. Some if I’m honest have had a positive impact and some negative. However I choose to believe God when He promises that He will work all things out for good, for those who love Him and are called according to his purpose.
“And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose” (Romans 8:28)
So I choose to honour those whom God is and has used to teach and influence my life for His purposes and plans.
The definition of honour is to hold in high respect and great esteem. I think its easier to honour people when you look with the perspective of what has been revealed or worked in our life because of them.
Having a heart attitude to honour all people for who they are and the gift they are to the world is such a great attitude to have. We are looking for the good and the positives in people and choosing to honour them in that. It’s easy to criticize and judge but how much better to give honour.
The bible says to,”Show proper respect (honour) to everyone.. .. Have respect for God.” (1 Peter 2:17)
Heaven has a culture of honour. It’s a place of esteem, respect and value. God is such a loving Father and He says He crowns mankind with glory and honour. Imagine that, He crowns us with esteem and respect. If He grants us this privilege and respect, how much more should we bestow that same esteem and respect on others.
“What is man that You take thought of him, And the son of man that You care for him? Yet You have made him a little lower than God, And You crown him with glory and majesty! You make him to rule over the works of Your hands; You have put all things under his feet,…” (Psalm 8:5)
Today follow God’s example and choose to really honour those around you with the esteem and respect that God deems every person worthy of. Its a powerful gift when people are shown respect, often helping to release ability and potential in people’s lives.
Prayer: Lord I thank you that you are such a loving Father, who has bestowed on me such grace and favour. Help me to love and esteem others because they are worthy of honour in your sight. Help me to see as you see. In Jesus Name amen.
