Lies will war against your identity, who God says you are, and who you understand Him to be. When you entertain these thoughts and lies, you create an arena for them to do damage.
But rather than sitting back, entertaining and ruminating over every thought, word or thing we see and hear, God says to focus on His Word, His promises and the hope He gives us. If anything comes against those things, he advises us to take hold of them, like catching bugs buzzing around our heads, pull them down and examine them for their worth.
If they rise against the knowledge of who He is and who He says you are, then God advises to put your faith to work, use your sword (God's Word), which is like an 18-inch dagger designed to dig out any arrows and then replace those things with His word and truth.
"We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ." (2 Cor 10:5)
Today, I encourage you to pick up your weapons that are designed to protect you from lies, attacks and assaults on your identity and future. Seek wisdom, look to God and His word and put your weapons to work. God does not change like shifting shadows. He will do what He says if you ask: help you see and hear the truth, help you dig out and remove the lies, and lead you in the way you should go.
"For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds'. (2 Cor 10:4)
"Finally, be strong in the Lord and his mighty power. Put on the full armour of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes… Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God." (Ephesians 6: 10-18)
"We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ." (2 Cor 10:5)
"If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you". (James 1:5)
"Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, who does not change like shifting shadows" (James 1:7)
Prayer: Lord, I ask that you give me wisdom and discernment so that I will no longer be "taken in" and deceived by things not being what they appear. Please remind me to put on my armour and use the weapons you have given me so that the enemy's tactics will have no effect. In Jesus' name Amen.
