16 May – God knows You

As I write this I’m travelling back home with my daughter and her friend and guitarist, from their gig in a country town close to 500km away from where we live. While I’ve been away my husband Philip and 3 of our younger kids have been moving into our new house. The boxes have been unloaded, bed rooms assembled and rooms chosen. Funnily enough I haven’t even seen this new house as only Philip viewed the house on a recent lunch break and video called me as he walked around. The control freak part of us would perhaps struggle with your new home, in a totally new city being chosen without you even seeing it properly. However I figure a man who has spent nearly 31 years with me should know me pretty well by now, and what I do and don’t like. Knowing me as he does I trust him to make a good choice. Plus I’m practicing being able to let go of having to organise and make everything happen. As we drive home to my new house tonight its pitch black outside, there’s mice running all over the place as the area is going through a mice plague and there’s ice warnings for the road ahead. But one glance up at the night sky with its myriad of stars scattered across the entire expanse of sky visible through my window, reminds me of how big God is and that he holds everything together. (Colossians 1:17) If I can trust my husband to take care of where we live and alot of other little details, when he is simply a man in comparison to the God who Created the universe, I’m fairly certain we can trust God to take care of every other detail, both large and small in our lives.

We don’t have to, or even benefit from being in control all the time and we don’t always have to hold the pen to determine what gets written and signed off on. Without fail God will always choose a far more interesting storyline and outcome. (Ephesians 3:20) “Now to him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all the ask or think, according to the power that works in us.” My husband may know me pretty well after 31 years together, but God has always known you. Because he does I encourage you to let go a little and to allow God to hold the pen so he can write your story. He will pick the best for you everytime, as He walks alongside you. Trust Him today. Prayer: Lord thankyou for your love for me and that you have always known about me and the desires of my heart. I trust you today to write the best story for my life and for the road ahead. I give you the pen today. In Jesus name Amen
