18 Mar - Happy Graduation Day

It’s my Dad’s graduation day today. As in the celebration of the day, he graduated to heaven thirteen years ago.

As I thought about him today, I could see him doing the funny little jig dance he often broke into when excited. I could hear him talking to me about embracing life in both the highs and the lows and his advice to seek to really enjoy and live my life well rather than just get through it.

Life and our time here are gifts from God, and only He knows how long each of us has.

God encourages us (to make the most of every opportunity) and wants us to live in constant awareness of how precious our life is as we seek to make a lasting impact and be a blessing in who we are and all we do. (Titus 3:8)

Col 4:5 in the bible also says for us to walk in wisdom. Let your speech be gracious and pleasant, seasoned with salt, so you know how to answer those who ask you what you believe and how you live.

Some keys to help us remember our life is a gift and to value it are to:

1. Never take your relationships and God’s open doors in your life for granted. Life is precious, so do not waste it on delays, distractions, or giving in to your fears and insecurities regarding your relationships and the blessings God brings your way.

“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.” (Ecclesiastes 3:1)

Be strong and courageous, and do the work. Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord God, my God, is with you” (1 Chronicles 28:20)

2. Seek wisdom and God’s direction. Ask that you would see those God opportunities, recognise the people He has brought into your world to share your life with, and the blessings when they open up before you.

“But blessed are your eyes because they see, and your ears because they hear.” (Matthew13:16)

“I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people.” (Ephesians 1:18)

“Behold, I have set before you an open door, which no one is able to shut”. (revelation 3:8)

3. Pay attention to detail while keeping the big picture in mind. This will help you remain focused and free from frivolous or harmful distractions.

We live our best lives when we value our every breath and walk wisely. We all have an opportunity to impact people’s lives, and it’s in really learning to love, and be loved, which can become our most significant accomplishment lasting far longer than any bank account or material possession.

“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.“ (Ephesians 2:10 NLT)

Today go and enjoy your day. Be grateful for every minute of it and seek to accomplish all God has for you whilst loving those around you and embracing every experience, relationship, and blessing He brings.

Happy Graduation Day Dad. 😊

Prayer: Lord, please help me to enjoy my life and to make the most of every opportunity and value those you’ve placed in my life. Thank you for every minute of my day. In Jesus name Amen.
