I was finishing off a painting today and putting the final layers of varnish to bring out the colours and textures as much as possible. It’s one of the fun parts where artwork gets to shine, and all the effort and work of creating is highlighted and better able to be enjoyed.
In much the same way as a painting, when we allow God to reveal and work upon our lives He causes us to gain our own unique colour, gloss, and shine as He releases gifts and dreams in us. We are all unique, and He knows what it’s going to take to make us look the best; to bring out all the artistry and beauty in us.
It’s also in realising that life is a gift from God, and to embrace the gift. As we do, our minds and hearts are renewed to think and see as God does, and our hope and joy restored.
A big part of life is realising life is a blessing and looking for the good, inspiring and beauty in everything and everyone around you. That’s how God thinks and it’s what helps us to shine rather than allowing all the negative and “dullness” to rub off on us.
The bible says it this way; “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things”.
This week plan to find and do things regularly that make your soul sing. Surround yourself with joyful people. Turn off the news if you need to. Ignore Facebook, don’t read that article, or listen to that conversation.
When God takes the time to reveal, create and restore things in us, He wants us to shine and to stand out. If what you are doing is stealing the “shine” from your day, consider whether you should “go there.” Let God guide you. Let Him colour your world and cause you to prosper your soul and enjoy your day.
“Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.” (Nehemiah 8:10)
“Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.” (3 John 2).
Prayer: Lord, I thank you for today. Please continue to restore me and release the fun stuff in my life. Release gifts, dreams and all the things that will cause me to shine as you created me to; help me see life as a blessing and a gift. In Jesus Name Amen.
