Today I was working and busy most of the day on the phone and sending out a lot of emails. By the end of the afternoon, the small but very important detail of dates was becoming an issue with my concentration, and I decided it was time to take a break.
As I was thinking about how many details I was navigating and negotiating around, I was reminded that even when we may risk making an error or overlooking something, God does not. He is a master of handling every detail of our life and perfecting everything that concerns us. (Psalm 37:23; Psalm 138:8)
Just have a read of the instructions He gave for the making of the temple or the strategy for going into battle when Joshua marched around the walls of Jericho for seven days; or how Abraham sent his servant to find a wife for his son Isaac and Rebekah showed up at the local well at the exact right moment.
Consider Jesus' first disciples were sent to collect a colt positioned at the designated place and time that had never been ridden so Jesus could fulfil a prophecy spoken hundreds of years beforehand. All these exact dates, times and places were perfectly orchestrated because God was in charge of the details. (Exodus 26; Joshua 6; Genesis 24; Matthew 21:2)
Whenever we go somewhere, meet someone and have doors open up to us that line up with God's plan and destiny for us, we can be sure it is a divine set up, with angels working behind the scenes to ensure the right people and the right opportunities all come together to enable us to walk in our destiny.
God is very specific in His detailed strategy; if we listen, we will find ourselves consistently moving in divine favour and opportunities. It's part of learning to walk in the Spirit, not our flesh, and understanding and recognising God's hand and angelic intervention in our day. (Proverbs 3:5)
Plus, the more we get into an agreement and speak the promises of God's Word and expect these "God moves" to be happening in our lives, the more they do.
The bible says that angels respond when we speak God's Word and that they get busy on our behalf.
"Praise the LORD, all His angels of great strength, who do His word, obedient to … in strength, who perform his bidding, ready to hearken to the voice of his words." (Psalm 103:20)
However, it's important also to understand that just as God orchestrates His plan, the devil also has his strategy and plans to get us off track, trip us, hold up or prevent us from fulfilling our God-given destiny and what we were born for. He and his demons track us, listening to our conversations, making notes of our weaknesses, and sending people into our lives to distract, prey on our weaknesses, and get us off the right path.
Sometimes these people know exactly what they are doing, and their actions are wicked. They have given themselves over to evil and live out of that space, just as someone who is a follower of Jesus seeks to live in the light. Others may not even be aware they are being used as a tool of the devil; they are just living out what they think is normal and okay, yet the devil uses them to tempt, entice and redirect our focus and God's best plan for our lives. These people and the places we can find ourselves in often seem harmless, maybe even pleasant to us, and it can not be until it's too late, harm has been done or time wasted, that we realise we've fallen into the enemy's trap.
Today I encourage you to not lean on the understanding of your flesh. Instead, listen to God and follow His Word's guidelines (it will keep you out of trouble and on the right path to living your best life).
Speak God's promises as you go through your day, expecting Him to intervene, direct and set up things on your behalf. Oh, and don't worry about the details; God has those covered.. choose to do what He says, and He'll set up everything to your advantage.
"So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. The flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They conflict with each other so that you are not to do whatever you want." (Galatians 5:16-18)
"I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye." (Psalm 32:8)
"The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord … "(Psalm 37:23)
"But whoever listens to me will dwell safely, and will be secure, without fear of evil." (Proverbs 1:33)
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths." (Proverbs 3:5)
Prayer: Lord, thank you that you take care of every detail of my life and that you have divine favour and opportunities being set up for me. Please help me be aware of your presence and leading so that I will always be in the right place, with the right people, at the ordained time. In Jesus name Amen.
